I co-own this Work at Home Forum and lately traffic has been going down.
I am looking for ideas on how to revive it. Do you guys know any good places/sites where I can advertise it and get a good return for my money?

you can try advertising on Google adsense, thats a good way to get good quality traffic. Also post in other forums related to your niche

Besides adwords in which you can target your audience, write some articles about "work from home" related content to promote the forum. If you can not write articles, ya can find someone on this forum for a good price. Work on building up long term backlinks. Comment on blogs, purchase advertising space perhaps on blogs related to your niche. Have you submitted the forum to any social bookmarking sites yet? You can pay someone to do this. Search on DP forum for members who provide this service. I've did this before and got me some good solid backlinks and a burst in traffic. Or use this service http://www.submitedge.com/index.html (I have used them every time i launch a website and love the quality work they do)

Also i think you need to put up a private policy on your forum since you are using adsense.

Send a mass email to your forum members and perhaps give them a free ebook for being a member on the forum and let them know members with zero posts will be deleted in 7 day's cause you are reviving the forum. Maybe that'll get people little active. Just be sure someone posts something on the forum each day. Search engines like fresh content.

Perhaps submit to web directories or purchase feature links. I myself is more into building backlinks then spending money on advertising. The wait always pays off for me but enough about myself. lol

Before i sold my free advertising forum, i ran a referal contest each month. The winner getting free banner advertising on the homepage for 1 month. (i also checked to make sure no one used duplicate accounts) Doing this each month somehow got me lot's of traffic and signups each month. Have the existing members put your forum link on there websites...etc I know you can get a referal mod from vbulletin.org since i used it before. Even though i don't own the forum no more, the owner still has the referal system in place but no contest. It's a little late am i'm out of good ideas or just brain dead.

Why not offer the "ultimate work from home guide” You can out it together yourself using knowledge and posts from this board. Make it a good, worthwhile read. You could also give it out for free afterwards if someone refers a friend to your forum.

There no need for adwords to get targeted visitors. Just do the article thing. I did some keyword research and found...

Travel jobs from home - competition = 5 ...searches per month 880
Research jobs from home - competition 219... Searches per month 880
Writing jobs from home - competition - 1060 ...searches per month 1600

Pick up some of these low competition phrases. Write an article, submit it. You will get to the first page of Google and get targeted organic traffic. By the way, there are plenty more keywords like this. You could do this for 20 phrases and realistically expect to get 5 thousand extra targeted visitors to your site, per month.

Do you have a blog on your site? If not, get one, update it and post a couple of times a week. More targeted organic traffic will come...
