    Why not? There is no rule regarding moderator's avatars/sig links. DON too is a mod that visits this forum a lot and does the same.

    In fact most of the mods sell sig links etc. I checked and it's not a problem.

    If someone was renting out my sig link for example, and they broke a rule - they can still be punished. And if a mod did show lenience because they were doing business, another mod could easily come and slap down the infractions.

    imo - you can rent out your siggy links to whoever you want. As long as you keep the garbage out of the directories category I will be a happy boy! :D

    http://www.avivadirectory.com/downloadblog/?p=500

    Jeff blogged about this topic lately.

    I'd be willing to contribute/run a directory association site. But first I think we need to make a list of all the resources this would need.

    * Size, style of site and requirements/functions of the site itself. Number of pages, forms, different sections etc.
    * Are graphics that important?
    * Reviewing a directory would take 10-20 mins. Anything else?
    * If I devoted time and resources into this, would I be rewarded in anyway? Am I doing this 100% for a good cause? It's not a charity. I doubt people would donate. Are there any options for monetisation without being compromised?

    I'd say the idea of doing it through collaboration won't work. Somebody needs to bite the bullet and go it alone.

    If it succeeded directories could pay to show they're endorsed as a quality site by displaying a button or badge. Also the usual, sponsorship, ads etc.

    Then there's the problem of appearing biased. People may think directories are paying their way in.

    How do people display a badge securely? If I rejected a directory could they download the badge image and show it anyway?

    with the constraints I have already suggested, nobody that has posted in this thread would get in.

    you can download any image and slap it on your site to make it look that way, however, when someone checks on the seal, if they are not legitimate, it obviously will not post a secured seal of registry.
