If there is no traffic, or high spot in Goo, why do buyers think older domains are worth more? Thanks
Are most dot coms pre-2000 old enough to be old? Many were registered in 1999, and that's the year I'm asking about. Also, does anyone know if a 1999 domain goes ('not-renewed' then) unclaimed in 2003, and registered 5 months later will the official creation date be 1999 or 2003? Thanks.
If the domain was originally registered in 1999 and then it was expired in 2003 and renewed again, then the domain looses its age and thus the advantage. To answer your first question, the older the better, 1999 domain is decent enough, 1996 domain is great. First domain was registered in 1985. yup, very nice list...!! Age of a domain is something search engines know webmaster can NOT control. Therefore.....
Google sandbox is the main reason why ppl are buying old domains. After all, the sandbox effect work's on new sites/domains only and its true.
I had a max xxxx figure for buying a 2001 old domain name which was a .COM of my active site in signature
Old domain is important, old backlinks are just as important if the domain is in a genre that you wish to work in, if the domain is 10yrs old and has relative backlinks that are 1-10 years old then it is gold dust.
