On internet, English is the most popular language in India. If your target audience is in India you can opt for .co.in though with other forms of geo-targeting it shouldn't make much difference. Go for a .in domain with English content. You need to research what's hip currently in the Indian market..

majority of Indians use English on the internet. not really, but you can say most of Indian internet users understand English. ============================== I suggest you use a .in domain and not .co.in. just concentrate on getting good links....don't bother if they are from .com domain or .co.in domain. if you have a .in doman, Google will consider it as an Indian site........no matter who owns it or where it is hosted.

I think you guys don't know that India has 734 known languages and more then 10 popular languages.If you guys think Hindi is popular then I must say one thing that its not even common in South India.
India on its own have 5,ooo languages as i have many friends who belongs India, will suggest you to stick to english. cos the person who know Comps, definitely understand English. and to ma experience its not imp that you take .com or .co.in the thing is your efforts for success and in right direction... well u can also think of .in All the best.
