Hi, I do SEO for a recruitment company which has a large number of jobs on it and lots being added and removed each day. We have an XML feed set up for all of our jobs and I was wondering, with Google Webmaster Tools if it was advisable to add 2 sitemaps: 1 with the static pages on the site and 1 with the jobs (i.e. the existing xml feed) - would this work do you think. All the best, Mischa
I'm not professional I think if you submit the same URL group in sitemap ... that's no good. But if difference that's OK.
AFAIK there is a limit of up to 50,000 URLs to be included into one Google sitemap - hence if the site you're working on has more than that do more than one sitemap and submit each one of them
I use A1.It'll generate more than 1 sitemap file if your site more than 25,000 pages. It seperate sitemap-index.xml,sitemap.xml,sitemap-1.xml,sitemap-2.xml....... sitemap-index.xml show how many sitemap and sitemap url. Hope this's useful for you.
You have no idea what you're talking about. You can submit as many sitemaps as you wish. Not only is there a limit to the amount of information that can be listed on a sitemap, mulitple files help keep you organized. I have 7 sitemaps listed for various areas of my site. If you want to read more about it, go here: http://www.sitemaps.org/protocol.php
According to Google’s Sitemap Guidelines, a sitemap shouldn’t have more than 50,000 URLs listed. If you have more unique URLs than that then you should have more than one sitemap. I think it should be fine if you create multiple sitemaps.
I'm with Frost on this. Google wouldn't provide the facility to have multiple sitemaps if they didn't acknowledge that our sites are powered by more than one system. You'll have one sitemap for the forum, one for the shopping cart, one for the blog and so on. It's practical and realistic and whatever you think of Google, they are realistic.
