I have 20 new domains and I am wondering how I should spread them so that they are not considered spam. I have competitors that have 30 domains under one IP address and they barely get looked at in the search engines and are considered spam. Same registrar name and IP This is what I am thinking....Yes it will be more work but probably worth it. registration: so as to not register under one name I can use "domainABC1@hotmail.com, Hosting: I will need to find a host company that will allow different IPs scattered throughout. Or even go with 4 different hosting companies? Anyone else experienced with this? What am I missing here if anything?
registration: so as to not register under one name I can use "domainABC1@hotmail.com, Google is a registrar and see who owns a domain - a different email address won't do it, it would have to be different name and address, which you can't do unless you have different legal business entities. You could use a proxy registrar which hides all that information. "Hosting: I will need to find a host company that will allow different IPs scattered throughout. Or even go with 4 different hosting companies?" Almost all hosts have the same class "C" ip range, so a different ip address from the same host isn't going to work. You would need to use a different host. Hosting multiple domains on the same ip isn't a problem unless they are all going to be on the same topic or cross link with each other.
*Imps Matt Cutts.* What kind of sites are they that would make you be worried about them being called SPAM?? Are they unique rich content sites, or SPAMMY affiliate sites? *gags* Remind me to never Imp Matt!!!
they are going to be 20 sites about 30 pages each. All on the same subject leading to the mother site. So...to prevent spam, I should seek out 20 different hosts? What would you do if you had 20 sites on the same topic and all with unique content. No tricks, no black hat SEO, just pure quality informative sites that will lead to the mother site? as per the registrar, you don't need to always register it in a company name. Yes if you are very big and you might have to prove ownership in a takeover or something. But "Joe will work just as fine. Mix up the address to something non existant. I don't see a need to have your exact company as these are simple content sites. What would you do if you had 20 sites? How would you spread them?
If they all have unique content and no duplicate content, then you don't have to worry about anything. Googles said the same thing about that. Got 20 sites with the same content...then it's...BUSTED!!!!
see, that is where I disagree. I can see it being more beneficial to do a cross linking within the sites to boost their popularity etc. I have a competitor doing the same thing and since they are all on the same server they don't rank as high as they should. If he would take the sites and change servers, and the contact information then he would dominate the first page listings. But....since they are all the same server Google simply refuses to list all the sites on the first page.
if you want to link all those sites to the mother site it would be best to host all the sites with different web host. i think shoemoney had a problem with cross linking sites that where host on the same server, the discussion is on mattcutt blog..
but the question remains, is the content different on each site? because if its the same content on all 20 sites, cross linking etc wont help you much with either SEO or traffic...
Yes, it is all unique content. Imagine this if you would: Mother Site = widgetshoppingmall.com Sites 1 to 19 = buywidets.com orderwidgets.com purplewidgets.com Linking Site 1 to 19 Site 2 to 18 Site 3 to 17, And then all linking back to the mother site to complete the sale.
