Well you'd be wrong. What benefits do you speak of with alcohol, apart from being a social lubricant. Marijuana is used for medical purposes (treatment of neurogenic pain, movement disorders, asthma, and Glaucoma) and ecstasy (MDMA) has been used in psycotherapy to treat PTSD and anxiety for terminal cancer patients. Even psychedelic drugs like LSD when used in low doses can offer an introspective trip and help with problems, more so then just numbing the pain with alcohol. Honestly, alcohol is one of the worst drugs to exist. Ask any drug addict who has tried every "hard" drug and many will tell you it was alcohol that fucked them up.
That couldn't be farther from the truth! There's alcohol poisoning, liver failure, and let's not forget about how many people die every year as a result of drunk drivers. Now let's look at an illegal drug, weed. How many people have you heard of that died as a direct cause of smoking weed...not many. Its practically impossible to overdose...you'd probably have to smoke your body weight of the stuff. The ratio of alcohol related deaths is far greater than weed related deaths. Therefore, I would argue that alcohol (legal drug) is a far more dangerous drug than weed (illegal drug). This topic really interests me and I spent considerable time on it during my time studying Criminology at university. Kevin
I couldn't imagine what life was like in the Prohibition era when alcohol was banned. No beer, no wine, nothing
wheres your proof. being drunk kills brain cells, while smoking a joint of weed doesnt kill them. moving to CA!
Very good response. Making something illegal does not automatically make it disappear like magic. Software piracy is illegal... and yet, warez sites and P2P/Torrent software is everywhere. Some people get addicted to junk food or to the Internet or whatnot, should we make those illegal as well? Furthermore, many of the government representatives that are the most "conservative", who want to ban everything that does not fit within their "morals" are also the most hypocritical, just look at the scandals in the US news, seeing them cheat on their wives, use government money to pay for strippers, get caught doing cocaine, etc. The key with anything, is moderation. You can use alcohol/drugs recreationally, as long as you are aware of the limits, and know what the substance will do to you if you abuse it too much.
Drugs will make everyone addictive and useless. Alcohol won't do it like that. Though many peope drink, very small part of them will be addictive.
That's not true at all, alcohol is highly addictive just as many drugs are. In my opinion someone who is driving while drunk is more of a danger than someone who has smoked pot while driving.
drugs and alcohol can damage your whole body. Drugs are illegal i think because i can damage your body quickly than alcohol
Alcohol is a key component in most medicines, though not the same type of alcohol that you can buy in the bottlestore. Whiskey taken in moderation actually reduces the risk of heart failure; the only problem is no one knows what moderation is.
