We're considering contact a forum owner and asking if he's willing to sell his forum and stay on as moderator. He's currently not advertising, not optimizing and not monetizing his site so $0 revenue. Traffic stats are unknown but the following stats are known:
    • Posts - 43,032
    • Topics - 3,828
    • Forum(s) - 7
    • Forum Members - 1,581
    • Current Pagerank - 4 / 10
    • Predicted Pagerank - 4 PageRank
    • Alexa Ranking - 143,819
    • Pages linking to website - 101
    • Listings on Google Search - 10,500
    • Listings on MSN Search - 53
    • Listings on Yahoo Search - 675

What would a forum like this be worth do you think? Sorry we don't wish to give out the url. The forum is using PHPBB and a standard PHPBB template. Thanks for any appraisals you can provide! If this post is in the wrong category

How many users online right now? Whats the most ever online?

How many forums sections haven't been posted in for a day or 2?

Not enough info. To be sure, any appraisal without seeing the actual site is pretty useless. But, you haven't even stated the topic of the site, how much traffic, what are its earnings, source of traffic, how many posts per day,

Unfortunately that information does not seem to be available on this forum. Under "Forum Stats" I only show what I've provided you above. They've recently moved from an ASP forum script to PHPBB forum script. Perhaps this is the reason for the lack of extended stats.

I did state above that there are $0.00 earnings and that traffic stats cannot be known at this time as I've not contacted the owner yet. I would wager 99% of his traffic is from natural search results and regular posts from his 1,500 members.

He's does not PPC advertising that I can find. In regards to seeing the site; this shouldn't make much of a difference in value as I stated it's a standard PHPBB free theme.

The actual search term for this niche is getting 109 OVT searches per month (search term="xxxx forum"=109/month). But it's the related niche products that he's not monetizing and that we would that would make us the revenue.

hmm. If he/she isn't advertising at all, perhaps the owner doesn't care to much about making money off the site and keeps it because he/she loves it. Expect the owner to want a high price as they usually have sentimental value that they try and get compensated for.

At least $2000 if it has potential as it seems, since you want to buy it. Also by the Alexa ranking traffic. Making $5 a day shouldn't be a problem. Anyhow if you are unsure the owner is or isn't willing to sale it, don't lowball too much on the first offer as he/she may be offended and then say they want an outrageous price and reluctant to do business. Just my opinions.
