Hi DP members, Currently I am working on a big portal, for now about 300 pages, but in the next few months probably will grow to 1000+. I am wondering how this will affect SERP and do you think that link splitting will be terrible over this SERP. Should I try to separate this on multiple domain names? Any suggestions are welcome. Kind regards Kal
Nope, adding more pages to your site won't affect your ranking. Just make sure each of them has unique contents and set of metatags and keywords.
For your group i have different type of SEM Activities like blogging, social Media Optimization, directories, press release, classified etc.....
It is good in SEO wise by adding more page as you are adding more contents to get crawled and indexed by search engines. This will only bring you more traffic. Try to install google.com/analytics and monitor which page gets good traffic and optimize these pages. Plus, if you are just in top 10 -20 in some targeted keywords, improve it and get more traffic instead of doing SEO for all single page.
Big or small, basic SEO is same of all sites. Good keyword optimized content pages and backlinks from good neighborhood.
If you successfully index and optimize your all new pages, definitely you will see your result improvement. But you have to optimize all the pages 1000+
I think I will be able to handle it by my own. Yes, work is a lot but I have a good strategy. SEO include - Google Analytics + Webmaster tools, link building, and article submissions. I am not sure what more to add?
SEO process same for big site or small site so don't worry do all activities as you done for small portal and enjoy!!!
This would help you - Submit to the Web Directories -Link Exchanges -Forum Signatures -Buy Advertising -Publish web articles -Stay on Google's good side -Make a quality website -blogging -trade links
having many pages wont affect your SERP instead it will help your index pages if the pages that you are going to make has a quality and unique content
Kal, I wouldn't necessarily consider "300" pages to be big. Medium sized, yes but not terribly large. It's going to depend on how you group them. Since you're working with a decent-sized Web site, I'm going to presume that you've invested some decent resources into information architecture. With regard to linking, you'll want to employ a breadcrumb navigation menu and break your menu up into a main menu (with the top level pages) and sectional menus that have links to the pages within each section. Also don't forget to inter-link your pages within the content of each page using your keyword-rich anchor text as well, and for the love of $diety; USE A SITE MAP PAGE and link to it from every public facing page on the site!!!
Adding pages reguarly will do wonders for your SERPS, but be sure to maintain good internal linking. Is this an article directory or something? I am wondering how you are getting this much content so quickly.
He's probably doing what I am for my upcoming SEO Starter Guide site (which will be anything BUT a starter guide; it'll be more ike the BIBLE of SEO) - writing it all before launching it.
