    Hi all,

    Just a quick question really

Is it true that your site needs to have a minimum of 20 pages for Google to believe the site is relevant for it to be indexed

noticed a site i tried to index using the webmaster tools does not seem to be going anywhere (not listed in the search engine and the web master tools are saying - site not indexed)

No, that's not true. A site can get indexed even if it only has one page (indexpage).

I agree, I have had one page sites before that have been indexed. I currently have a site with three pages that is indexed.

Now if you are asking "can a one page site rank well for a competitive keyword"? That is probably a harder trick to pull off.

    very interesting

i only asked because i read a few articles which stated that the sitemap option within google will only work well with websites larging than 20 pages

and i recently added a webpage which was 8 pages launch and it is still yet to be indexed?

It doesn't matter the page count. Here's an example of a page that has nothing and is still ranking high www.something.com. I think google places more importances on backlinks.

When I started a blog and it was just a single page, it got indexed.

There is nothing to say firmly that Google needs more pages to index content.

One page with very good content is still a lot of value for G, isn't it?

I don't think No. of pages will give any impact about to SEO.

No. No minimum page limit for indexing in google. But it takes time. If you update your page daily and you have enough inbound links google indexing your page soon.

If there was a 20 page minimum, I would not be ranking #1 in Google for "Minimal Markup" (without quotes).

I think few people here in DP claim to index the page within 24 hours. I don't know I havent tired it yet. Is it true?

And also does the indexing time depends on the age of domain???

    Thanks

It can take some time to get your site indexed on google, but a quick way to do it is to get a back link from a site that gets crawled frequently, once they pick up the backlink your site will also be indexed.
