Never use any new domain registar!!!

    Hey guys,

I have been registering with a new domain registar for most of my domains in 2008 and then switched over to godaddy in 2009 because of no client support.

Anyways, I logged in a few days ago to notice that my domains had no expiration date on them. I looked up in the who.is and apprently, some other registar company owns my domains that have expired.

To renew them, I'd have to pay over $100. WTF!

The previous registar is ALLOYHOSTING.COM! DON'T USE THEIR SERVICES.

Not sure what I should do now.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

I guess you learnt your lesson. Only go with the established players if you value your domain.

100$ fee i guess may those domains are now in pending delete restorable state

if your domains deleted chances are there some guys catched in other registrar so no surprise in that case

It wasn't other webmasters, the domain is owned by the company now. Should I file a complaint to Icann or will it do nothing?

And yes, I have learned my lesson. But I'm not sure about hosting still as Godaddy doesn't use a cpanel and I can't function without one.

Well if you think it's worth the TIME, then I guess you should contact icann and ask for some assistance.

by the way thanks for the HEADs Up about this new issue...

Any particular reason for that? I recently bought offshore webhosting and domain from the same company...

dude! have you tried to contact the company who owe your domain at the moment. I guess you should give them a threat of contacting ICANN or will take some legal action.

Wow! that's not good... In my case since I just registered a domain with my webhosting do I need to wait 60 days to transfer it to another registrar? do I need to pay again to the new registrar or transfer should be free?

The transfer would cost a fee but you would get another year added on to the expiry so its okay I guess. However you need to wait atleast 60 days from the date of registration before you can move your domain out.

The last time I sent in a complaint to ICANN I had to wait a while for a response, and then I got a standard premade one.

    But you can always call.

    Hopefully you have proof.

I called them today. Should I leave a voicemail for them or what? Which offices did you call?

I believe that Alloyhosting is a reseller, possibly for eNom or Directi, and not a registrar. If you let the domain expire and do not renew in the grace period it will revert to the registrar who will charge a fee for late renewal. This is an ICANN rule and the registrar is passing on (& adding to) fees that they are charged. Who is the name now registered to/what are the nameservers? This will tell us who the registrar is.

True but registrar are obliged to notify the domain owner of expiration before it happenned. Did you check the email address you register with them for any expiration notification?

None. There are no expiration dates on the domains. All it says is 00-00-0000.

    The nameservers are under Alloyhosting.

EDIT: iDIRECT sent me letters to my house before the domains expired but they renewal prices were unbelievable.
