I noticed many websites, mostly adult sites, seem to crawl other websites, downloads there videos and then streams them onto there own websites. Is this legal? Also if i was to create a video tube type site, adult or not, could i do this or would i be risking copyright infringements? Thanks in advance Will
Downloading videos you don't own and the displaying them without express permission from the owner is copyright infringement.
Perhaps they have paid a licensing fee or obtained permission? And if they didn't, they are not operating legally and are putting themselves at risk for being sued.
Most websites provide a embedding html code for you to cut and paste and then put onto your website. I have used a script for a longtime that simpy does this process for me using certain keywords. The 20or so websites that are crawled all state that this allowed as long videos are not edited and backlinks to original are left. Adult websites have some sort of between the line rules and all seem to just share the same videos over and over and link to each other.
