Does directory submission really works? 3 Important Questions

    Guys

    First question?
I have read a lot about directory submission like 250 directory submissions for 4$, bla bal. I am interested but before I want to know if this really works. Personally I visited some directories and some of those were even not indexed or with PR0. So overall does directory submission really works?

    Second question
I have around 10 niches on same site like Loans, Banking, AdSense, Insurance, Blogging, Investment, Work at home. I was thinking to add sub-pages in directories instead of home page. For example adding direct link of loans.htm instead of index.htm But in this case if I have 10 niches then I would like to add my site 10 times in different categories on same directory. The actual question is, is this risky to add many backlinks (but different) at same directory?

    Third question
In reference to above question, do directories allow to add multiple backlinks in different categories for same domain? Or one directory and one domain and one backlink only?

Please help me because I am interested to submit my site in directories but before I want to inquire all this.

I answer only one question: Directories are good and effective only when are not submitting lots of directories. Submitting more than 100 directory at one time look like getting link from link farm.

    For Question no. 1
I have outsourced some guys to submit to 1000 directories (PR0- PR6). my site got approved to 48 directories out of a thousand, but none of them sent traffic to my site.

I tried to submit to Google, Yahoo!, and MSN. After some time, my site was getting traffic, 20 uniques per day on an average. I checked Google Analytics, and it says that most of them came from Google (organic), some from technorati, and like 1 or 2 visitors from niche-related sites.

It's not about how many directories you submit to, it's to WHOM you submit to. I was really pissed off when I found out 95% of the directories where my site got submitted to are either PR0 or no niche-related.

    Second and third questions
Just read the terms and conditions for submitting sites to directories. Some directories allow deep links while others don't. It depends.

For 4$ 250 directories submission will give same service, but I think out of 250 directories if I get 10 good links back that will not be a bad deal. Saving time and few permanent back links for 4$ is not be a bad deal. :)

While directories may not send traffic - do remember that Google does give value to backlinks it finds spread all over the net.

Directory submission is good and bad, purely based where you submitting and how you submitting.

Slow submission is a way to go. Also it's success rate not that much great. If your budget allows you then go with the top paid directories.

At first I ordered for 500 submissions with maximum 50 daily. I think 50 daily is not a big submission for any seo alarm????????

Any good service for top paid directories?

Many webmasters are using cheap submission services that submit automatically to dead directories or link farms. You get what you pay for. It's not that directories aren't good any more, it's just the type of directories that you (or person you have hired) is submitting to should be kept in mind.

You have to choose your titles carefully, you can't have 1 title for 1000 submissions. That's not natural. You can't use 1 description for all your submissions.

Many directory submitters don't even bother to inform the client if there is a spelling mistake in description (approval rate takes a nosedive if you have one). Many webmasters trying directory submission for the first time are clueless about writing non-spammy descriptions in third person narrative.

If you do it properly, directory submission is still a useful technique.

    1. You don't have to be panicked as not all directories will accept and give you a link right away but some do. some directories takes up to 2 months to even review your application. so you won't be getting that many links that fast. but from now on you better take care while building links against content you have on your site, especially if it's a new site.

    2. Whenever you are going spend money on anything you better spend some time on it. you could google for best paid directories on webmaster forums. to see what results others getting from which paid directories.

First Ans: Directory submission is Effective even the directories doesn't have PR. Bcoz, Google and many of the search engines considers backlinks from the related niche. In past, directories and yellow pages placed a good role in Internet. So, still importance is giving for them. But, the quality was decreased. Directories suddenly get good PR like 3 or 4.

Now a days, many people are registering cheap TLD's (like .info) for a year, earning the money and later they are not even renewing the domain. So, if you are looking to buy links from directories then go for good provider. Check who is, if you have time spend some time on this.

2nd Answer: Some of the directories, will not allow to submit inner pages. Read submission guidelines before submitting your site. If you have many niche pages in a single website, no problem in submitting your individual pages in many niches in a single directory if they accept.

3rd Answer: Most of the directories accepts website only once. They will not accept multiple times. When you submit your site, they gives an error like "URL already exists in the directory"
