That is going to depend on your targeted audience. For some people video blogging on sites like youtube works well. For others its sites like facebook and myspace, while for others it might be image hosting sites or pod casting. It all depends on "where" on the internet your targeted audience is hanging out at. As for myself, I have been posting my home made videos on youtube for the past 27 - 28 months. This sends my site a nice stream of targeted traffic with a low bounce rate.

I would have to agree with shonc2000, you really have to do a little bit of everything shonc mentioned.
That last part is defiantly important. Make sure to diversify your efforts so you are not dependent on one form of promotion.
Yea there are so many.... the best way to create traffic is through yahoo answers, twitter, blogging and social media whereas the best way to create backlinks are forums, article submissions and blogs.

All I use is word of mouth I guess that's the benefit of having a site that is actually worth visiting
