OK before I start my rant, I want people to understand that I am doing this project only for long term. These are my targets for Dec 31st 2010: 1) Visitors: 10,000/day min 2) Adsense earnings: around $100/day just from this one site. 3) Page Rank: 4-5 (Don't really care) Just for the heck of it. 4) Rank good for some competitive words (Well unless this happens I don't think first point is gonna happen) Even though, my targets are to the long term, I would like to see progress on all the points, simultaneously. I am slowly growing with the number of users, and am above average in ranking for keywords... (most of my posts stay in the first page or the first two pages for the keywords I optimise them) So, I am ok with that. Not worried a lot, because, the more I get exposed to SEO and content writing the better the posts will show up on the search. Current readings for the site are: 2.7 page views/visitor. 2% Bounce rate for the last 15 days. 87% New Visitors Everyday 1.7mins/visitor The issue I am bothered about is the low CTR I have, about .04% overall CTR till now. But, when I get a click, it is very much near $1.5 - $2. So, the thing is if I do the placement correct, I will have a good earning. And I do not yet haev a clear idea of how to do that with my traffic. (Just took out the whole image of the adsense on advice from Adpubster) Visitors are around 500-1000 depending on stumbleupon and linkedin refers. (I know that the visitors from these two sites are TECHY, but when someone clicks 2.7 times when they visit the site and stay for about 2 minutes on the site, and when 87% are NEW...I would expect at least 2%-3% CTR. I would like to ask all you experts on Adsense to shoot your ideas, thoughts, comments and valuable words.) And, yes I have tested a lot of positions. Changing ad placements. Last but a very important point to remember is that visitors don't visit my homepage very often. Usually they land on a post that they either searched or got refered from some other site. Thanks, please don't take this as a rant or whine, if I am spending about 3 hours on one site, everyday, I would at least like to see the mountains smoother from distance. Site is explain stuff. The blue link that says 'Learn Science Concepts and Science Theories' in my signature.
Again, why block out CTR and eCPM? They are both calculable from the data you've given. You've posted your site name, but your screenshot is in violation of TOS so the first thing I'd do is edit it completely/remove it and summarize the results rather than show them exactly. Basically your post boils down to "Why is my CTR so low?" Your ads appear to be TOO well blended, and in their present location, font, format etc, are in violation of TOS. You've formatted them to look almost exactly like your page content (violation) Part of Ads by Google is obscured (another violation)
. Is blending ads with the site a violation? I didn't know that! And should I just block out the site name? where are these TOS ....That'll be really helpful, if you could point me to the TOS. Thanks.
You're kidding, right? You agreed to them when you signed up for Adsense! https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=48182 (Look under "Encouraging Clicks) https://www.google.com/adsense/localized-terms (Look at Section 7, Subsection b) "blending" to make it look good is not a violation. You, however, have blended it so as to try to make the ads indistinguishable from the content. Not necessarily deliberately, but the final result is the same regardless of intent.
Honestly, I did not read them. I think, I should now go and read them for sure. Actually, I did want to make them look like the other complete site, because if they are blue in color and my whole site is red links, then that looks awkward. So, do they have to be like compeletely different color, or just a little difference is kewl? Lemme read those pages first! Thanks a lot for pointing it out!!!!
awwww damn it, I see that : 'Format ads so that they become indistinguishable from other content on that page.' I gotta change that as soon as get home.
Hey btw, is the image kewl now? I have also blacked out the site name. Shoud I black out anything else?
No, you're still showing Impressions, Clicks, CTR, eCPM, and Earnings (only earnings is sort of permissible...technically it's the gross payment that you can disclose, ie your monthly check, not your daily earnings)
some people go 2000-5000 impressions with no or few clicks, it isn't a problem with adsense. And i've heard often that social bookmarking traffic doesn't convert well. And when you wrote "visitors who don't click ads go f yourself" .... when you visit a website do YOU go to click the ads ? I know I don't .
That's over $33 per hour... How many jobs will you find that pay those rates? No pleasing some people
it's also part of the adsense TOS that you must post a copliant privacy policy on any site that displays adsense you'd better get that fixed or face a ban!
I don't know how accurate this is. Can someone confirm this? Or can you please show me any link that states this. I would assume, they would ban my account already, because my sites don't have any TOS, privacy policy etc since I started them.
Yes it's a requirement, but whether it causes you to be banned depends on whether Google notices or not. They may not have noticed yet, but it could happen any time (like the next time you reach the payment threshhold). Seriously, you need to read the ToS and Program Policies very carefully and make sure you are following them to the letter if you care about your Adsense account in the long term. The whole point the OP made in his OP is lost by giving the thread a different direction. His consultant (advisor or whatever) had just made a semblance of a reference to it and just that (Basically your post boils down to "Why is my CTR so low?") And a good part of the thread is taken up by the two as if they were on a messenger. I am not sure whether the OP will ever raise his original point again or he found his answer. (ps: where is the image they are talking about?)
