Google just changes its web template/layout. Here is the new Google:

http://indoxyldesigns.com/google.html <-- Click to see the new template in action

I dont really like the sidebar on the left, seems like a waste of space.

    Changes:
    - The number of results and time have been moved to the bottom [681,000,000 results (0.06 seconds)]
    - A sidebar with links to some of Google's other projects (such as Froogle, Maps, News, etc.)
    - If you signin to Google, the 'Search History' link that appeared in the old template is missing in the new template.
    Old:

    New:

NO other parts of the site have'nt been changed. Only the results page template has been modified.

Seems like a test-run to test the new design. Who knows? It might even be a mistake of some sort!

Is it working for everyone? They might be testing it on you on an IP/Cookie basis.

You were right, this is a cookie based test. I cleared my cookies from Google and... BAM... the results were back to the normal template!

I saw this ages ago at SearchNerd.

They're not going to be using the new template for a while, there's still some things wrong with it like the links missing, etc.

I'm hoping they'll give the option of keeping the old style because I'm not liking to new look as it is at the moment.

That's been coming and going forever now. Its not new at all. And I don't think it'll ever be implemented until they stick adwords on the left hand side too.

I've been watching this new look from the past 25 days or so. It's a little hard for me to adjust with these (less broad) new settings. Also, I wonder where exactly will G place adsense on this new template.

I'm not incredibly sure, but SearchNerd said he found the sponersored links to appear randomly.

I still have old template here. By the way new one looks OK except you have to scroll all the way down to see total number of results.

    Precisely!

With the eye tracking tests that have been done, moving the adwords to the left side would most certainly increase overall visibility.

I too suspect they won't implement a change unless the adwords are moved UNLESS they suspect searchers won't respond well to it.
