Are we in trouble?
Is google trying to promote more linking? If so this means adding your site on dir listing site might help climbing the rank and ofc more dir list site will appear (a good biz too so u might wana start now!)
Funny post, of course we're not heading for a PageRank crisis (unless Google disables it..). As long as websites keep offering quality content, there'll be websites that link to them. Webmasters should quit obsessing over PR and start worrying about how users view their websites.
What kind of trouble are you going to be in? If you have a successful site making money that has a PR5, but then suddenly drops down to PR1....you still have a successful site making money. Quality traffic trumps pagerank any day of the week. Just think about SERPs. It doesn't take a high PR to get to the top; it takes good SEO and strong content. IMO, pagerank was created just so you have something to worry about and spend more time on google....just like 'global warming'! Kevin
I have a blog with good traffic but the PR is still 0 All the content is original So, I surely think that it is heading towards a crisis
I don't understand where the crisis is! If you're getting good traffic, who really cares. I have sites with a 2 million + Alexa rank that are PR2, and a PR1 with an Alexa of 600,000 and way more traffic and backlinks. Therefore IMO, pagerank=nothing Kevin
anyone who has the slightest knowledge of how PR works, would find the statement absurd and stupid. there always will be a PR 10 page because toolbar PR is not absolute, but relative.
I think that PR system is going to disappear within a year or so. I like PR, but see no point in showing it in public by Google, but deceiving. No PR = no crisis
Just one mans opinion I suppose. I never have and still don't think PR is important. That doesn't mean I wouldn't mind having a high rank though lol.
Stop worrying about it, as of right now there is absolutely no benefit to PR (with the possible exception of demanding a higher price if you are seling but then everyone now knows PR has no value) but that would change if Google uses PR to influence something else which could happen in the future.
Pagerank will never be a "crisis", no matter how low you sink. A crisis would be deindexing and massive serp drops.
Thanks for this, very informative and looks very true..though I cannot agree with all points like no PR 10 pages.. All I can say is that even if we have crisis in page rank, Google will not judge the ranking of the pages just because of it...I will then look into a more important factors such writing a more quality and relevant content to satisfy users as well as getting links from trusted/authoritative sources. Page rank crisis will not then affects the site and should not bother me.
