    Fellow DPers,

I would like for you to share your opinion on whether or not you think Web 2 properties still help in site optimization.

    Regards

linking back to your domain from do-follow web 2.0 properties is perfect for off page seo

Link wheels are akin to money laundering. The latter is a felony while the former is sure to eventually get your site penalized once Google gets sick and tired of seeing that garbage.

If you want real links, read this: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=12104573#post12104573

(Off-Topic: You're from Chi-town? Whoa! I'm just to the west of you, in Aurora! )

Link Wheel is still a viable SEO trick. I am in the process of creating one right now. And I know everyone makes a big deal about only dofollow.....but I will take any link no or do follow!

Ah thanks for the LOL. Your'e going to make a linkwheel
with no follow links? Oh god... the irony is too much.

    Good luck my friend.

Anyway, yes web 2.0 links and sites still play a big role
in ranking on google. There are plenty of do follow ones
left and for the ones that arn't just use them to get ranked
as a stand alone page. Then the page can send your main site
    more traffic.

Web 1.0, Web 2.0, Web MyDogLarry.0 - doesn't matter. At the end of the day, if Google can index a site, it'll treat it as a site.

(Off-Topic: Heh. I was in Chicago June 6-7th for WordCamp Chicago. I think I was the only one there who was getting calls from an area hospital requesting permission to give a loved one multiple units of blood and pain killers. Hmm.. perhaps we should take this to visitor messaging or PM just to keep the thread pure.)

If you are tired of Web 2.0 sites for building link wheels you can always use sites like those found in Backlink Goldmine. There are a number of sites in that list that have an integrated "blog" which can be used in the same fashion as Web 2.0 sites as laid out by Lemonarian's Link Wheel ebook.

Use onlywire to automate submitting to web 2.0 properties.
Submitting your website content to dofollow social bookmarking sites can bring you a lot of backlinks and traffic.
Here is a list of 101 DoFollow Social Bookmarking Sites with their pagerank and alexa rank:
You have a lot to work now :) but make sure to not build more than 50 backlinks for week as you might get Sanboxed(i have :( )

Do I have to debunk the "50 links per week or you'll get sandboxed" myth too? (Seriously - I'm pretty sure something ELSE happened to your site; sometimes it's best to have a developer look at things instead of an SEO; they can find things that the SEOs may miss.)
