Why I didn't think of buying a domain in 1985?!

 

This is a piece of trivia that I'll have to remember, bound to come up at some point.

 

There were no web sites in 1985. The web began in the early 1990s.

The internet was used for other things - email, ftp, etc. - long before the web came into being.

 

Actually that list is only of the dot coms. For example, the original dot edu's came into being in 1985:

What boggles my mind is that microsoft.com wasn't registered until 02-May-1991! They were wayyyyyy behind the others.

People who already started buying domains in those 80s must be multimillionaires now...but I think one .com domain cost at least ten times than current price?
