    Hi

I have finally finished writing an ebook and it is ready to go on sale on our website but i'm not too sure how to do this. We have written a sales page and created a buy now button for the ebook using paypal, so can anybody please tell me how prevent non-cusomers from downloading the book from our site without purchasing it.

    Are you drunk?

They have to fill out the ordering form, along with their credit card number.

    I can't believe I answered such a stupid question.

    I must be bored.

Perry Rose and Harrysidhu...you are both twats yourselves. It is a valid question. How do you think people get their hands on ebook and software besides buying it... they find the download page dummies.

mcdeere03... Your sales page should be one page, and then create a separate page for your download page. I would suggest sending the product via email or just hope for the best. In paypal you can redirect to the download page after the people have paid for the product. Unfortunately like hundreds of people out there you take the chance of your products being shared on illegal sites. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about it. It's like this... if your product is good then people will pay for it, and personally I wouldn't worry about the rest. It is a digital download and like most digital downloads it will get shared. A clever thing to do sometimes is offer content on a continual basis if people buy. So if someone hasn't purchased the product then they lose out.

Alternative options is to get really expensive membership software where the download link expires after a specific time. That will help prevent your products from being shared. But as I said even that can be bypassed... so in realistic terms... just do it through paypal.

Just create an auto-mailer, so when you receive funds, it's emailed to them as an attachment. That way, there's no chance of someone 'stumbling' across the product online -- unless someone who's bought it, leaks it. (almost inevitable, lets face it)

Yeah there are place where you can sell your book directly but they won't bring you much sales.

I forget to tell you there are also some free scripts to prevent it. Although they are not 100% proof but anyway they do provide protection.
