ok, i posted something in the Site and Admin forum.. and this is somewhat related to that post... i'm about to choose a host for my website.. my website deals mostly with non-adult contents. however, it's like a user-generated content website allowing users around the world to display EXTERNAL images through my site.. Now, what I want is that if a user want to display adult images, he should be able to do it. So my question is what host can allow it? I'm looking for a host with established reputation, like Go Daddy, Lunarpages, Hostgator, etc. also, i actually need a vps for this website. but i got little money right now. so i'm thinking of ordering cheap non-vps packages for the meantime. I'm expecting (though I may be wrong) that I can get 100 to 1000 unique visitors for the first month of my site. That's about 300 to 3000 pageviews a day. Will my site be ok with a cheap package if I have this kind of traffic? Well, a pageview in my site consumes about 20KB of bandwidth (yeah, that small).
I personally prefer Hostgator. Their customer service is simply superb! As for your traffic, I guess it is no problem as I had a few thouand uniques last month and I am still having the basic package. As for the adult content, you'd beter ask Hostgator themselves.
I use hostgator, never had a problem with them so fair I have two websites hosted with them but I'm planning on moving ten and starting another ten up.
Try www.000space.com and they have free as well as paid package. Both excellent. Worth giving a try. I have my site running for more than a year. Never had any problem with them.
i would say you should go with offshore host coz not all onshore host accept adult content. You can try zentek.
So long as it's legal hostgator allows it. 100-1000 unique visitors a month is no problem for shared plan.
may be dreamhost.i used to love them when i was their user in the past.but be sure on the check out...their prices are usually annualy announced..if you pay monthly they take more money.
What I meant is 100-1000 uniques per day which I guess may reach 3000-30000 page views a day (30 page views per unique user)... Will that be ok with the basic package? ok.. after researching it a bit, i guess offshore hosting is the best for my site.. so can anybody good offshore hosting sites, aside from zentek.. (i'll take a look at all of them later)
sorry for this bump.. hopefully somebody answers this time.. i spent some time looking for an offshore host.. zentek I guess is expensive.. its bronze package is for I GB monthly data transfer bandwidth onluy ad it already costs $14/month.. googling "offshore hosting" does not output zentek-international as no. 1 though, it's just no. 2. the number 1 in google ranking is ccihosting.com, a host in panama.. their basic package only cost $5/month and promises 50GB of monthly data transfer..the problem though is that they don't have any reviews.. i tried googling it and it's like an unknown host.. no reviews, no testimonials, etc. i tried chatting with their support team and it seems they're not good at english.. they say they don't have a testimonial page.. they always avoid giving me links to their hosted sites (not sure though if its against their rules or they can't understand my english question).. well, i just want to know if somebody here in this forum has heard of this host..
