Hi Everyone, I require a homepage and content page design for a client, hence running this contest. Designers only need enter a design for the homepage, the content page can be made after the winner has been selected. The content page will be very similar to the homepage (i.e. same header and just more space for text content) This is a simple brochure site. Prize: $250 via paypal Contest will run for 4 days, at which point designs will be shortlisted for final revisions and then a winner selected. Brief This website is for a commodity trader who buy and sell products such as Dried Fruit, Grain, Nuts, Sugar e.t.c The target audience are company's who may purchase these types of goods i.e. Food Manufacturers, based around the globe. It should therefore have a corporate look and feel which appeals to a global audience. There is little text for this website so the use of graphics/images will be required to ensure the site conveys the correct theme before even having to read anything. Logo: http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/2378/bcom.gif(Available in high resolution) Color Scheme: Should be similar/complementary to the logo Specific Requirements Must Appeal to global audience Main Theme: Fruit, Grain, Dried Fruit, Nuts e.t.c Must still have a Corporate look and feel Both Pages Space for logo space for telephone number Space for navigation (Home, Who We Are, What We Do, Contact Us) Homepage Space for a short piece of welcome/introduction text. As only small amount of text will be on the homepage; the use of graphics/images should be used to promote the theme (perhaps you could do a graphical representation of the different pages Who We Are e.t.c if space needs filling) Content Page Larger main content area with picture areas. To be honest, all of those designs suck. I know for sure somebody on DP will be able to make one 10X better
I agree with you too Sam. I, for sure, am an excellent web page designer and developer... I am pretty sure I will be competing with the best.
@Janine: I like where this is heading but the bit between the logo and the content doesn't feel right, should be died fruit rather than fresh also. There is also too much text space on the page for the amount of content (very little) we have. @stardesigns99: Like the header, not so keen on the black bar (especially the people). Don't need the "newsletter" or "follow us" sections. Perhaps a different background other than white for the content, or an image or something to break it up. @katesrobyn: I like the header except for the child's face. We wouldn't need the video space but that could just be an image. Rest looks good. Thanks for entries so far, look forward to seeing revisions and new concepts/entries.
Do not mind the horizontal line down the middle, due to bad cut and paste. I am a pretty good designer, not so much image modifier. Will take $200 if you go with me within the next 2 hours. I can make mods to suit your desires, footer was not included in picture. I will need a hire res logo, if you would like me to work on that. Thanks!
@decoyjames: Not a fan of this as it currently stands. The background colour is too murky. The header is not clean enough, needs to be more professional looking.Sidebar is good although we don't need the newsletter bit. @sLiMsHaDys: I like the header although worry its too similar to the competition's sites. Too much text space, need more graphics as we will only have a very small amount of text for the homepage.
