Why would people bother using it?

    Freeppa.com is available.

How would you make money if it was free?

How about, I DON'T want to make money, just wanted to tear flippa down.

I'll take enough donations just to cover the server's cost.

If You're really that desperate to make flippa bust, go for it! :p

Though if its a 100% clone then its illegal? I'm not sure.

Dont make it a clone make it similar concept like flippa provide all services they do and offcourse without fee, promoting it at start wont be easy i mean getting people using it but once u know how to get that things will work good

Why the hate for Flippa? I think you could quite easily create a new site with the same concept as the market is humungus! But the only thing you'll find difficult to begin with is getting website owners to list on it.

    DP hates SitePoint anyways right?

I think it's a great idea. There should be more options. The problem with free is that you end up with lots of crap postings (look at craigslist). So, somehow it needs to have some way of ensuring that only genuine and quality sites are put up for sale. Finding the right way to do this without wasting all your own time moderating everything will be the tricky part.

Oh yes, I guess it'll end up looking something like craigslist.. daymm. whatever, it'll be cool, i could probably set everything to expire in a week or two and auto delete after a month of no activity (sounds feasible?)

    Anyways, marketing it... any idea?

I agree that Flippa charge outstanding rates. I can't believe they charge $19 to list a domain name?!? How are you supposed to make a profit?!?

Someone please create something and charge less for listing domain names!
