More troubles may come in near future with the following news from SKY News

Iran could strike Great Britain and later the United States

Israel threathened to destroy the infrastructure of whole Lebanon if Hizbullah strikes Tel Aviv

Iran posesses rockets which can reach the territory of Great britain, stated the Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Natanyahu.

In case the conflict between Israel and Hizbullah is not suspended, Iran will have the time to develop rockets with a range, enough to make a strike on the United States, as in the same time Iran has been creating nuclear warhead, claimed Natanyahu in his interview for SKY NEWS channel.

Israel has allready destoroyed a lot lebanese infrastructure. Civillians are allways suffering in wars.

Anyway, Shahab-5 will make it possible for Iran to make all european nations(and mayby also US) to basically shut up.

Any rockets coming towards Britain would most likely be shot down over the sea or something. I really doubt the army would just stand there and watch a missile coming towards them.

It's impossible, they aren't scuds. They are one of the best missiles in the world.

Also, UK doesn't even have a practically fullrange missile defense system to make the suggestion even more pointless.

I've no idea what any of that means xP

Could we not just like... send another missile to collide with it? If not, why haven't Iran already done it?

Yes, and it isn't like the movies or video games where you can just steer one missile into another.

The worlds best/fastest anti-missile Arrow2 hasn't succeeded in any test against a Shahab missile. Many believe it's possible that it could struck a Shahab-3. However, not Shahab-4 or Shahab-5 That is out of question.

Shahab-3 travels in Mach-10 while Arrow2 make a Mach-9 after the acceleration is done. But it's much more expensive to develop anti-missiles. Even if a country had a shield of working Arrow missiles, Iran could still outnumber them.

Unless Iran wants to become a parking lot, or the 51st state of America they better get some "Act Right".

We don't have a ton of nuclear weapons, air craft carries and nuclear subs for fun - it's strictly business ladies.

It's a shame really, some country gets one or two kinda OK missles and they think they are the new kids on the block.

Think again ladies - the USA spends almost half a trillion a year on the military.

For those of you who don't know - that's the entire GDP of Iran.

And in case Iran and who ever else doesn't know - the US actually gets most of it's oil from Canada.

    DOE info

The USA gets a full 100,000 units of oil MORE from NON OPEC countries than Opec countries.

There are patriot missiles to counter tactical ballistic missiles. I reckon GB might have such air defence system.

Patriot Missiles is outdated. They worked ok against early versions of scuds however. The fastest Patriot can manage a maximum speed of Mach 5.
That's half the speed of Shahab-3 which Iran activily deploy today.

i dont think they are so much stupid to fire something that will get destroyed in between. if they have planned something, they would have thought of consequences.

I think the missile defense is only effective against ICBMs. They have to travel to a certain height before they are catchable. I saw on discovery the the US is actually working on a plane-based laser system to blow up missiles while still in enemy terrority. That seems cool, but way off in the future at best.

They blew up a missle with a laser a long time ago. Either they are incompetent and haven't got it all figured out yet or they are keeping us in the dark.

    It's probably #2. I mean come on - it's pretty simple.

    Laser, missle.

    Point and click babe.

I totally agree, wasn't the Blackhawk stealth built in the late 60's?!?! Can you just fathom the toys they have now. The US gobberment might be incompetent, but the US military isn't.

I'm just reporting what I saw on discovery. If we had a plane based laser missile defense, why are we parking missiles in alaska to shoot them down? A plane can be launched from anywhere.
