Hey. I was wondering if anyone knew much about Awstats? I am checking my refferals stats and see something like this: xxxxxxx.com 23 23 xxxxx.com 12 12 etc... etc... My question is what do these two columns stand for? One of them must be the number of clicks from that referrer, but what if I have something like this: xxxxxx.com 1 23 xxxxx.com 6 13 Does anyone know what these two colomns are? I noticed that it does the same type of style for search engine refferals... Any help appreciated. Thanks.
You should be able to see that information at the top of the AWSTATS pages. For both, it's Pages --> Hits. (at least for AWStats 6.4)
I see where it says Pages and Hits, but do not understand how to work these numbers. I understand hits, but why is "pages" the same as "hits" on most of the refferal stats, and some of them the pages are only 1 and hits are multiple?
Hi, For each visitor coming from one of these referrers, AWStats adds : - 1 page and 1 hit; - or just 1 hit. AWStats adds 1 page and 1 hit for a normal visitor coming from another site and landing in one of your pages. Even if this visitor visits 10 pages in your site, only the first page he visits is counted here. AWStats adds only 1 hit when the visitor coming from another site produced a hit on something else than a page. This can happen when another site shows your images in their pages (hotlinks). Jean-Luc
so, basically.. if this was a real click through it would be a hit and a page increase in stats? if only the hits are increasing rather than both hits and pages does that mean that people are visiting the page with the hotlink, but not actually clicking through? Thanks for the info.
Yes, Sir. Yes, sometimes these pages showing your images do not even contain a clickable link to your site. Jean-Luc
