    Hey There,

I have a computer and Windows XP professional Installed in it. but from past few months my computer gives me a message when it gets boot like "Boot.ini is failed initialize and booting from C/Windows/" .

I think my system's boot.ini file got corrupted.

Can you guys please tell me exact way that how can i get rid of it. I've no idea of it. Also suggests me a good and smart ANTIVIRUS so that i protect my system from some bad virus's.

My system works lil' slow, i bought a new PC..
    Configruation : 3.0 MGZ, 160 sata HDD, 1GB RAM, AsusP5B-MX / WiFi AP solo

Please suggests me i'm in deep trouble.

    Thanks a ton in advance.

Hoping a rite and appropriate reply soon...

    Rohit~:)

It's a good guess your boot.ini is corrupt. I take it you don't have a backup of your system prior to this error right? Your easiest bet is to use the XP Recovery Console. If you search Google for "Repair Boot.ini" it has step-by-step instructions on how to use this console to fix your boot.ini file. ;)

yup, just using the repair function rather than the fresh copy of xp.
insert your cd and do the same way as you want to install it.
when the xp cd is loading hit 'r' button to repair it.
then the xp will replace the system file without affecting your file

otherwise you may try recovery console.
    use the checkdisk function

LOL. Always the last resort but not the best result. Try to figure out what is missing and then just copy that file from your Windows Installer.
