How can PR go down?

Maybe some of your backlink have been remove or your backlink site PR drop or you get penalized by google due to involved in link sell activity

 

I'm on the backlinking trail... any suggestions for best places to get backlinks? I was reading but lost a post about social networks that do-follow. Since I can post on those all day with my bot, I think I might start with that. But in backlinking, is it just a matter of finding some good sites that will give me at least semi-permanent backlinks? I know I shouldn't buy backlinks, but it seems a lot of sites are pretty stingy about their linking nowadays.

Simply, NO

Check yourself. Search for anything on Google and compare PRs of different sites listed on First page of search results.

 

If PR get zero it means you are not getting quality back link.

 

Normally this happens for several reasons:

- You lose backlinks
- The PR of the backlink sites drop (if a site linking to yours loses its PR yours will drop too)
- Your site has been blacklisted from Google

Does your site still appear in the SERP? (ie. is it still in Google's index?)

well.. its googles parametre.. you just cant do anything..
if you have good quality maintained , your blog rank will be maintained and once a short problem , so google now is penalizing that... so its just not in your hands..

 

agreed...it is not in our hand ... but According to my point of view, google gives page rank on some important basis like good quality link, Unique content, perfect designing as per seo means your site designing structure, and your site keywords... If we maintain this kind of things .. we can make our site seo friendly and user friendly also ...

if you have broken links and if you keep the link building process down and keep on loosing major backlinks, then PR goes down

 

You might lost some backlinks, or they were nofollowed.Also it is possible that the number of links on the pages that link to you was increased too much and thus pass no or too little pr juice.
