Anyone have any success with these part-time? I've just started using elance and getafreelancer and so far have one job accepted and completed.

Has anyone been able to earn a part-time income using these methods? (Data Entry and Transcription)

Discuss away your successes and any tips to help others (including me! :D)

I have to say keep away from those sort of jobs. Quite often you end up incurring large costs. There is no easy and workable "data entry" or "reply to emails and get paid" job. Hope this helps Z

These freelancers sites are good if you have some special skills like Programming Designing, where you dont need a full team to work upon. for SEO it is not good as there is too much of cost cuttings, and for data entry works, i would suggest never ever try those sites, you can not have a full time income job form these job boards.

Hmm... Thank you for the advice. Are there any other work from home opportunities that I don't need to invest any money in to make a part time income?

I've tried doing data entry jobs, it's boring. My buyer (the boss) wants me produce more, I quit because it's so boring... really boring, I'm not even thinking, I just do copy-paste.

If you don't mind me asking; can you earn a part-time income with data entry?

    Yes! Definitely yes,, :)
Why don't you try it? But the competency on this job is high, because basically it's a very easy (and very boring LOL) job!

Try to apply on odesk,, don't worry, it's a trusted site. They will absolutely pay you.
If you have questions, or you need some help, just send me a message alright?

I suggest to try doing copywriting jobs. Data entry pays the minimum amount of money that one can earn at any freelance sites.

Both GAF and EL are good freelance sites. At GAF you can get lot of copywriting work. In the beginning, work for low rates in order to gain ratings.

Then once you have good number of ratings, you can then get work forgood rates: $5+ per 500 words.

Be wary of data-entry scams. After researching this a while back, it turns out that there are only maybe 2 - 3 legit companies out there that offer real employment for data-entry. And these don't even advertise!

It's word of mouth, and the available positions fill up very quickly. The companies I found actually had waiting lists.

I'd guess they only take the cream of the crop, so chances are low you'll be employed. Most of the data-entry jobs in the search engine results are scams that actually ask you to pay them for registration.

If you want something a little more interesting - try mystery shopping. You get to travel around and act like a secret agent :) These jobs are quite easy to get.

That's what I mean - you should never pay registration.

If it's a job, they're supposed to pay you!

BTW - Do you mean 5000 rupees or dollars?

If you want quick money for writing, I've found success with two methods:

1.) Do a WSO and offer article writing at like $6 to begin with. Use a sample article you've written to show you're competent.

You'll get plenty of business this way, and once you have a bit of reputation, you can up your charges.

2.) Write a content site and sell it at Sitepoint.
