For those wanting to change the thread sort order for your user account globally (order order when viewing a forum), you can do so for your user account under User Options -> Thread Sort Order
Shawn but the problem is that only few guys would do these changes wont it affect the sales in B/S/T Section specially in the long term dont know the exact reason for the change but if possible please reconsider to change it back to normal
There is a way to avoid new threads getting buried too early which is that everyone is only allowed 1 or 2 threads at BST per day. This will also decrease the work load for moderators.
Well mate all these restrictions are just going to take the B/S/T section down not instantly but slowly.
Bohra is right... I sell domains frequently at the BST section.Usually,i get about 250 views in one day before my thread falls into the second page. But now, within 54 views my thread went to the 2nd page. I also see a great decline in my profit.... Shawn could you please make the BST section thread sort to last post time by default... Please....
Oh I've just started a thread about this in General Chat. I run contests quite frequently and spend most of my time in that section - this is driving me nuts because very active contests are just being lost... whats the benefit of this? Surely the default should be that the active threads remain at the top, and then to give everyone the option to change this if they want it any different. Its seriously driving me nuts trying to find threads and it means that good contests are being lost and not receiving as much input from the designers as they would normally do. Very very frustrating!
Only old members may be aware of this, what about new users and guests who sign up especially to buy some trusted service/product. Mostly all online forums use the Last Post sorting by default. This is a killing for Sellers IMHO. Please consider changing it back.
Totally agree! The problem isnt just 'ME' being able to find the contest thread, its the designers. All that they're seeing at the moment are the new contests with just one or two replies. New users wouldnt know that they would have to scroll through 4 - 5 pages to find active contests, and they wouldnt think to look at the thread sort... they would just assume that all the top threads are the most active ones. Bad news for us contest holders for sure. If its not going to be changed, could this at least be made a sticky in all forums??
Not every sales thread gets an instant response. Time zone Shawn Time zone. Try to understand that no one want's to go to page 10 to buy stuff. My sites have been sold for BIN after 5-7 days. Under this condition you are just making our lives miserable. Try to get into our shoes. People make money from this forum. The 7 day ban was something that I really admired. Cos people need to have fear about what they do in BST. It's no Underground section to spam like hell. I would definitely encourage you to put up a poll. A thread or whatever. And take opinions for the next 7 days. Whatever the outcome is you decide how to go about from there.. Make that thread sticky in BST. Cos responses from people who are just here for the sake of getting webmaster support, domain discussion and other not-sales related information are cool with this thread sort order thing. But it's creating a big dent with people who are into selling sites, domain and especially services. The whole reason for a forum is lost by introducing this method..
You guys don't like it, because you want your threads bumped, which is against the rules. Stop complaining.
From your side it's correct, But we are selling some product or give a service. I think this will be a reason to create duplicate threads for Buy/Sell section. But I hope not to do Anyway this is a sad news for Site/Domain sellers, in that case we need Bid system. I think it will be reason to sold the product at cheap rate. So sad about domain/site sellers Have a nice day Blog.
It's not bumping that we are talking about here. We are trying to explain that things will be disastrous . Atleast the people who rely on BST. "Pm me" "I'm interested" and other craps are unacceptable. I do understand. What if I decided to reduce the BIN of a site. What if I want to offer discounts or slash/increase the price of a service. Do you expect me to be the only person offering a certain service in here ?? You are killing the competition. As a matter of fact the BST in whole..
I Went through your itrades and noticed u use the B/S/T section mainly for the Link Sales section whereas many of us use it for sites, domains and other stuff, Threads bieng bumped offcourse cant be against rules in the sense if some interested person replies u cant say its against the rules . This will affect people selling sites, domain, programming services, offering scripts, maybe people selling ebooks and lots more. So what u say isnt actually justified
Sorry to say but this is probably the worst thing that happened to DP in years.. Anyone interested in my service would after 10 days have to digg 50 pages deep to find it? Now thats bad and I never bumped my thread I would lose a LOT of sales just because people wouldnt be able to find my sales thread And If I had to to repost the thread(is that even allowed now????) all the testimonials and review people placed would be scattered all over the place People Keep up one thread open for a long time cause people can see how seller is reliable and who is not Even from a buyers eye this would make a lot more sense I wouldnt have to rsearch everyone of that persons threads before to buy(which would be numerous more in this case) but just go to one main thread and see it all in one go. ----------- If you are actually doing this and God hope you will change it back ------------------------ For those wanting to change the thread sort order for your user account globally (order order when viewing a forum), you can do so for your user account under User Options -> Thread Sort Order ------------------------ Please make thit a Sticky in the same manner you did for the updated forum Rules I mean this IS the largest Webmaster forum on Gods green earth please let it be a democratic decision in everyones interest, thanks! This is Murder @ broad daylight for all sellers August the 1st 2009 is a bad day indeed...
This is a method that makes it fair for *everyone*, and no longer rigged for those who offer products or services that rely on bumping. @sandeepdude (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1429461) Posting reduced offers on BINs is bumping. Saying that an auction ends in 4 hours is bumping. @bohra (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1415141) Announcing "highest bid" is bumping, plus people know how to read. @typingmums (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1438463) Thanking every single person who posts a graphic in your thread is bumping. @jalpari (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1338845) Making multiple posts that thank everyone for ordering is bumping. Posting discount offers is bumping. Updating that you have cool new features is more tolerated but it is still bumping. Posting to people that you sent them a PM is most definitely bumping. Posting that you have completed orders and taking more orders is bumping. @SOULZIPPER (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1260418) Multiple posts reducing bins is bumping. Posting stats that you didn't include in the original post is bumping. @blog8491 (every thread created) Thanking every person for an "honest review" is bumping. @Seeker0 (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1295431) Posting that your offer is still available is bumping. Posting that you sent people vouchers is bumping. Posting that you are back is bumpin. Thanking people is bumping (use itrader, PM) Posting public replies to questions that were asked in PMs is bumping. Posting how many offers you have left is bumping. Extending offers is bumping. Reminding people how many offers you have left is bumping. Saying you accept bulk orders is bumping. Fuck dude, you have over 50 bumps in that thread... So much for credibility.
This is 120-DAYS-OLD (10 pages) thread, much before applying the new rules of useless posts. Count how many posts I have in the last 3 pages of the thread. And you mean if I have a special offer or changed the price, should I open a new thread instead of posting? And Fu*k dude this is not the point of this discussion at all. We don't discuss if these are Bumps or not. We all observed how the posts been cut up in the BST section the recent days, Obviously you can prevent bumps with rules and infraction.
This is exactly the point of the discussion. (The age of that thread doesn't change the fact that you abused it with scores of bumps, it just shows that we didn't see it.) You stated that: "This is a killing for Sellers IMHO." My point to you is that it is potentially killing your business because your ability to bump your threads has been taken away. Pretty simple...no one sees your thread, no one buys your product. I understand and appreciate the concept of advertising.
I hope Shawn will listen to the community at the end. I got 3 infractions (7 ponits) because of my opinion in this thread. Cheap way though. I knew it, you must pay for your opinion in DP with such kind of Mods.
