$35 Green Logo Contest to be followed by site template and flyer PART ONE: LOGO

Oh, and Tajio's is ALSO a "real" logo compact and simple and GREAT colors- everyone's got the green ok, but his addition of brown is also echo friendly (like simple brown paper, or a paper bag vs plastic) and works perfectly with the green. However, overall it's just not striking. The leaf thing or whatever is not clear what it is (it IS a leaf right?) and the type while sweet also isn't striking. It's hard to be striking AND soft and sweet at the same time. It's all very pretty but it's more like the cover for a book than a logo. You kind of have to read it rather than just getting it in an INSTANT flash in your brain. (IMHO.)

 

Please play around with the "G" and or try some other images that don't look like clipart! You are ALMOST a winner here! Thanks, Doug

 

I made the logo big so you could see it. can be resized. but i'll attempt another version of it later.

To Lejka: I don't know that I really have a preference. The #1 priority is CLEAN/SIMPLE/CATCHY (all three together) I guess if an abstract symbol worked I'd love that but I'd go with a great mascot too. My guess though is that 'mascots' tend to be cartoonish, which I don't want. OK, so I prefer an abstract symbol!

No, I LOVE a big image to look at- I meran something completely different. It's the realtionship of the symbol/image to the type and the overall "stuff" going on. It's very crowded. I want a sharp/simple image that grabs people and sticks in their minds in an instant. Visually there's just too much stuff going on for people to grasp instantly. There's really no symbol to FOCUS on. And too much type (eg too many lines.) adding 'by you' I also know is just to present it and hope others don't steal it, but overall the presentation takes up too many lines of type and a big sprawling image that doesn't seem very brandable to me. What I like (love) about Chemicalinck's submission is that its CLEAN & SIMPLE. But he's ALSO still being uique - without any clutter. AGAIN, "How SIMPLE (ie minimal) can a/the design be and still be unique & original?"

THINK ABOUT ALL THE MAJOR BRANDS IN THE WORLD... (or all the SUCCESSFUL brands in the world!) Theyr'e ALL different (in order to be UNIQUE and therefore brandable) BUT they ALL have somethin in common: They are SIMPLE! & UNIQUE! Sometimes it is just their initial and usually there is a symbol but they are are all SIMPLE & UNIQUE. Think Apple, IBM, Cisco, Reebok, Puma, Motorola, Starbucks, Sony, Samsung, Dell, HP, etc. etc.

Here's ANOTHER possible test (FOR EVERYONE) : Copy a bunch of famous brand logos (like the ones mentioned above) onto a page (all same size in rows and columns) and PUT YOURS NEXT TO IT or amongst them) DOES IT "FIT"????

WOW again... you_love_me44 is creeping up on Chemicalinck! The symbol's probably a bit too big in relation to the type and should probably spaced a bit higher above the type- but that's ok for now. LKet's focus on the symbol itself. FIRST OF ALL we've got clip art turning into an original (and brandable) logo! That's GOOD! I think the upper left and lower right are the better two of the bunch. The lower left looks (to ME) like radar! and like it would be better for an irish radio station or internet or something (green 3 leaf clover.) And the spacein the lower middle even starts looking (again to me) like a radio tower or something! It also reminds me of the "radioactive" symbol- NOT good for green cleaning!

The upper right one ALSO looks to me like something 'radio' - it reminds me of a stylized microphone! (Don't give me a Rorshach test or they might find out I'm crazy!) The one on the lower right begins to be a bit more unique but it's still not "it".

... I HAVE AN INTERSTING IDEA... Hold on....

OK, here's an idea for you_love_me44 & chemicalinck, BUT ONLY IF BOTH OF YOU AGREE! I know how sensitive you guys (and gals) are to competitors "stealing" your work or parts of it...

So here's my idea...

I love chemicalinck's overall idea and maybe he'll come up with a better symbol... and I also like you_love_me44's symbol but I don't think it's 'there' yet. So if the TWO of you are willing to COLLABORATE on this AND if I then choose a final design from EITHER one of you... I will make you CO-WINNERS and pay you EACH/BOTH $35 (for a total from me of $70.)

HOWEVER, realize that someone else may still come up with a better design than either one of you... in which case that person would get the $35 prize.

If you do agree to this - and neither of you really have anything to lose AND a BETTER chance to win- this is how I would suggest you proceed: Chemicalinck would send you_love_me44 his logo with the image and type and you_love_me44 would send Chemicalink his/her 3 leaf clover. You each/both work on refining Chemicalinck's overal design with you_love_me44's symbol and Chemicalink's type and layout/proportions. Maybe one of you could try the "G" in the center of the clover or a "G" "S" and "S" or a house image inside the G or around the clover or whatever....

Let me know if this works for you two and if either of you have any questions...

The two tree versions are BOTH VERY good. They are definitely in the running...

Not as crazy about the smiling leaf. (But it's good too.) Personally I prefer the first (upper) over the bottom only because inthe second the tree is a bit droopy- but the more I look at it the more I like it too. BTW - its "spaces" (plural.)

The type is great- simple straightforward and easy to "read" and the color combination is (still) great.
