Isn't god supposed to be a personal relationship?

If you believe in god, then this is for you..

If god does exist and he for whatever reason is choosing not to prove that he exists to the masses, is it not safe to say that any significance of such a god could exist only on a personal level? Because if god was significant to people as a whole, he would simply reveal himself in some way that we would all know without a doubt he exists.

If god is significant on a personal level only, then why do people want to play the middle man between you and god? The relationship is supposed to be YOU and GOD; not you, the church and god. If you believe in god, then you should also believe our only relationship as we enter and exit the world is between ourselves and god.

There was no church, synagogue or mosque when you entered the world was there? Did you know what a church was? Was there a preacher? Was he there in the womb with you?

If you're aware of all this, then why do we have preachers, churches, synagogues and mosques? Why are people trying to tell me what god is going to do to me once I die, and how he feels about me? Isn't that like me telling a stranger what his wife really thinks of him?

Simply put, if you believe in god, then you shouldn't need to prove, debate or lecture anyone about him.

Each and every time that you take a breath (inhale and/or exhale), GOD is proving to you, Physically, that HE IS. King David, put it this way, "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made...(Psalm 139:14a)"; you are so "fearfully and wonderfully made", that without assistance from someone/something outside yourself, you can even kill/murder yourself.

The only way that you could kill yourself, without assistance from someone/something outside yourself, is to hold your breath until you die; but you are, again, so "fearfully and wonderfully made", that before you could die, you'd pass out and start breathing again.

Good point; but Death "is significant on a personal level only", as well, and you try and avoid it like the Plague, right? And not only that, you try and insure that any of your close loved ones avoid it as well, right? So you see, those of us who know GOD/JESUS CHRIST personally, have been commanded by HIM to warn you that GOD/JESUS CHRIST can and will keep you from Death. . .but now you need to accept, know, and understand (in that order), that HE'S THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN.

The TRUE Church is THE WORD of GOD [JESUS CHRIST]; and according to John 1:1, JESUS CHRIST [THE WORD of GOD] is THE ETERNAL GOD.

Today, the "Church" consist of JESUS CHRIST and HIS Body (us who are in HIM).

From the time of Adam, there has always been "a preacher", aka: a messenger; THE WORD of GOD IS a preacher, of sorts.

GOD told Jeremiah, the Prophet, that "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou came forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. (1:5)"; Kinda puts a damper on that "abortion" thing being okay, huh?

GOD is not "going to do" anything to you once you "die" that you haven't already set in motion while you were alive. If you "die" without/outside of JESUS CHRIST, then you merely go on to be consciously dead for all the rest of Eternity. . .because that is what you chose while you were still alive.
Its not just enough to "believe in god", you must Believe ON HIM; Satan and his demons "believe in god", knowing that HE IS; but they've made their proverbial beds long ago, and chose eternal damnation/death when they could have freely chose otherwise.
"Believing in God" is like knowing that HE can walk a tightrope, pushing a wheel-barrel, across the stretch of Niagara Falls; "Believing ON GOD", is like getting in the wheel-barrel while HE does it.

I'm afraid Nehemiah's illogic is really lost in circular reasoning, and tautology.

    1. You breathe.

    2. You breathe because the Bible says God is responsible for it.

    3. The Bible is incontrovertible.

    4. Therefore, anything that doesn't explain breathing by reference to "God," as laid out in biblical text, must necessarily be false.

All these posts, all the references to biblical text, etc. - come to this profound illogical approach. One cannot work with this - forget even discussing the heart of empirical inquiry; when one says "b happens because of A; any explanation that says something other than A is responsible for b is necessarily false," one is working with an infinite loop of illogic.

He has a way of hijacking any idea and turning into bolded Bible quotes. Can barely speak for himself or demonstrate that he ever thinks for himself. What's best is he considers that a virtue, "as yes Jesus is taking control in my life!"

This is why people can't stand Christians. They are all the same thing, a walking, talking bible orator. They have no original thoughts; it's really sad more than it is funny. Cause I know some people close to me like that and I KNOW that when they mature they're going to look back and say, "wow, I sure was a gullible son of a b!tch to fall for all that." And they're gonna reflect on how they pretty much sold themselves to this cult, and it can potentially ruin lives I would imagine.

Beliefs, powerful shit especially if you have strong ones. Usually never right either, that's why I got the hell out of the extremist camp of libertarianism.

he has just memorized what he has been told in bible study and just repeats it. he does not understand any of this so he can not argue it. he just quotes the paragraph that he feels is relevant.
i hate people like that. memorizing some stuff without ever understanding it. and think they actually know something.
now regardless if the religions are from god the creator or god the created, they are powerful philosophical doctrines and understanding them is intriguing to me.

Hey guys if i get banned for the locked thread just remember that I was correct in my prediction that the No to Yes ratio would be 3:1.

This would make me a prophet, and banning me will make me a martyr. Forgive them father they know not what they do!!!!!!

Hah! When I looked earlier today, your prognosticatory predilections had plummetted precipitously to 2:1. Seems the closers brought it round. Who'd you pay off? :D

Well, seems an odd night - I myself am twitchy, I guess, having bumped an old thread. If you get banned, and you don't mind the truly impressive farts of 2 elderly labradors snoozing on the couch, I've got a beer for ya - but you'd have to listen to me play gypsy jazz guitar, and occasionally mentioning "did I ever tell you about the time I was getting red reps on this website...?"....:D

But the bold text is just so damn important, everyone would take him seriously otherwise.

They like to claim it's personal In that creepy homoerotic way that they do but where's the fun if you don't try and shove it down everyones neck. The way they see it if they have to live by imaginary rules so should everyone else.

Kinda like trying to feed the baby, huh? You know that you know more than the baby, but the baby don't know that you know more than he/she does, huh? In fact, the baby just don't care. . .because the baby wants only what the baby wants when the baby wants it, right? Never mind its 3 AM, when the baby cries out for help, you're there to "shove it down" his/her throat, right?

But, guess what, stOx, you're now very understandable; alone and by yourself. . .here and now. . .and the forever after to come (of your current choosing); you don't know what to think and/or believe, alone, by yourself, and on your own, do you?

You think by being insulting to those of us who believe GOD, you'll be joined in your ignorance by others of equal ignorance. . .and you're scared to death that they won't join you. . .but even more than that, they may soon abandon you; Is that why you purport to speak for "everyones neck"?. . .and notice that you're so scared of being all alone that your "everyones" is plural.

But remember this, shoved down your throat, when you Physically die (have you ever notice that "die" is singular? and even with an "s", it become, only, a singular---verb). . .and soon you will, you will die alone. . ."it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment". . .look it up. . .it one of those "imaginary rules" that ONLY ONE has been able to escape and overcome.

If you didn't put the "N" in front of your mis-names for me, I wouldn't know who you're referring to; but because you have a problem with "Nehemiah" only let's me know that I've already gotten to you, and I own and control you. . .see because we can disagree, but you've shown yourself, on more occasions than even you can remember, to be the south end of a northbound horse, right?
You have to make up names for me, but I, on the other hand, show you respect and still call you "stOx"; I own your arse, huh? How does the first 5 syllables of the "Dragnet" theme go?

Again, I'll tell you, HE ain't going to do any more to you than you've done to yourself already. HE IS just going to tell you something that you've yet to hear, "Remember...". . .and you'll have all the rest of Eternity to do so:eek:.

Like i said, your scare tactic wont work on me. Your invisible friend only exists in your head.

That's all you are now, and it seems that's all you'll ever be. . .but according to WHO/WHAT you don't believe, believing HIM now (being "an obedient" servant, because that as low as HE will allow me to become), insures me of GOD-like status for all the rest of Eternity; and you have the same thing to look forward to. . .but without any of the stuff you now enjoy and/or have access to.
Since you like so much to "think", and pride yourself on your GOD-GIVEN "ability to think for" yourself, you're going to enjoy watching ETERNAL "worms" eat away at your ETERNALLY rotting flesh, for all the rest of Eternity, huh? You'll be able to get a lot of thinking done while watching that ETERNAL happening, huh?

Being a slave is sad, wanting to be a slave is pitiful.

I wont see anything after i die, Just like i didn't see anything before i was born. But thanks for inadvertently admitting that your "belief" is a self imposed delusion because you are frightened of death.
