I'm not even sure why you're asking, can't you just do it and see?

the best way to see how it will do would be to just try...its free to try so just put up some ads for a few days and see how it goes. If it doesn't go well and you decide the small profits aren't worth having the ads on your blog, than remove them and at least you will know right ?

Temple? Could you please list some keywords your are going to use?Or you can check with Google adwords how popular those keywords are. It might give you some feeling about that niche. Of course, the best way to tell it works or not is just do it. Do not hesitate and go!

How do you monetize a temple?
    You don't.
Therefore, I'll magically guess that the competition is next to nothing in Adsense, without even looking.
Thus, the profit is next to nothing. And I'm willing to bet that you will get non-targeted advertisements as well.

Not sure, try to use adwords keyword tool to check on your niche related keyword, then you will have some idea on it

And you should never gamble because you would lose on every one of those bets.

Not sure about that, only one ad comes up for play.com if you search 'temple' in google.com.

If you can rank on top 5 for very competive keyword "temple", then you can simple get a few thousands from adsense alone monthly.

zinruss - I used the Adwords tool to see if you were right. When you select United States traffic only, you get this output:

Perhaps the keyword "temple" is best suited for other parts of the world. I hear those demographics don't pay well though ;)

Maybe there's a travel angle - there's definitely money in that. Many major tourist attractions are temples.

exact earnings can never be predicted, as it depends on various things, including your traffic country, as people know asian traffic would give you lesser click value than european traffic, so go ahead try it and let us know how is it going? :p
