Or as I said on SitePoint (I'm an Advisor there), it's not "dofollow" or "nofollow" but "NOSHOW" - as in "We don't show links to search engines".

But seriously - the joke's on ANYONE who considers forum signatures to be a great source of incoming links.

 

Let's be fair Dan, they can be a great source of incoming TRAFFIC assuming you use it on a forum related to your site's topic.

But for search engine backlinks, yeah, that's pretty much a waste of time and effort, any site worth a damned taking an approach similar to what sitepoint does.

It's another of those "How can we game things today" approaches likely to get slapped down sooner than later - Everything I'd expect out of the type of sites that exist for no reason other than get rich quick advertising revenue bullshit scams...

Which are the reason I don't even usually bother with this section of the boards in the first place.

 

I didn't say anything about traffic - I was specifically talking about utilizing forum signature links as a "great" source of incoming links for search engine ranking purposes. But yeah, they can be a great source of targeted traffic if the links are relevant to the forum the person is participating on.

 

First of all digitalpoint is the BEST forum for info. Secondly I'm saying goodbye to sitepoint forever for abandoning dofollow. The least they could do is support their users.

 

SitePoint DOES support its users. Do you honestly think I toil and labor all day helping people for nothing over there? My God man, think about it! If all you're going to do is post on a forum for a cheap link, then you really need to reconsider how you spend your time, because the ROI on signature links is NEXT TO ZERO.

 

Very good list, it will be much better if live links are there.
