How often Google updates the Page Rank?

    I am new to SEO, just want to check how often Google updates the Page Rank? Is it done on fixed time interval?

    There is no concrete answer to it, probably it does everyday but toolbar shows up once a while in 3-4 months.

    Google PR update happens on different days within different areas. There is no PR update across the world at the same time.

    Few times per year. Don't care much about PR, just make sure you have unique quality content.

    Google used to update page rank every month then changed it to every 3 months.

    This year Google updated PR twice as mentioned in May and June!

    It's actually updating the PageRanks of Web pages all the time. What we see though is the Toolbar PageRank (TBPR) not the real PR of our Web pages. The TBPR is usually updated 3-4 times a year (note I said "usually") and typically contains stale information (it's already old by the time we get it).

    If you want an offline analogy, look up "Eta Carinae" in your favorite search engine. It's a massive blue-white hyper-giant star about 6,700 light-years from Earth (a "light year" is the distance a star's light travels in one year). In 1843, the star appeared to become much brighter, in what was later dubbed a "failed supernova explosion". That light left the star about 6,700 years prior to astronomers actually seeing it here on Earth. During the time between 1843 and now, the star may have actually gone supernova, but we won't know if it did until its light reaches us. (And if one of the poles was pointed in our direction, well let's just say that it may be the ONLY sign we have of it going supernova.)

    Believe it or not, the toolbar PageRank works the same way.

    (Two fun facts - Eta Carinae is actually a binary star system, and may actually have a third companion star. The other fact is that Betelgeuse, which is only about 640 light years away, is about to go supernova itself - but we're far enough away and the poles point away from us, so all we'll get is a VERY pretty light show when it finally blows.)

    how much PR is required to get into top 20 results in google assuming " keyword optimization " to be average. I am using meta tags on my web pages.

    how many links does it take to get 5 PR?
    Links for sites with 2-3 PR.
