hello friends,

as a part of link building i asked my friend to put a link to my site with my keyword as a anchor text ..He replied that he had installed wordpress mu in one of his site and he has some 5000 blog users.he told that he can put my link as a blogroll in every theme in his site.it means link to my site from 5000 blogs.

Wht i want to ask is does google or any other search engine will count it as one link or 5000 links? will it effect anything for me...or is it equal to placing a single link...

It's logical to assume that Google will count them as separate links as they are found on different webpages. It doesn't matter if the domain is the same, these are different sub-domains.
But I as a blogger myself I can tell you that there is nothing easier than erasing an item from the blogroll So the links you will get will probably be less than 5000

u mean erasing by the users ?

if thats the issue , as it is my frnds domain i will made him add some where else with in the theme where users cannot delete this...

It means that You will get backlinks as much as his blog has indexed pages, not 5000

well logically its correct and as you are talking about theme it means CSS code and its very easy to manipulate code whomsoever have a little bit knowledge of code.
And now the main point just be slow as u are trying to get 5000 links and that too from blogs.
Google can penalize you also for blog spamming so just be slow in getting links.
It's easy to say but within a month or 2 if you are getting 5000 links Google can think something is fishy so just be careful while link building using these kind of techniques

he has 5000 users but not pages, its not counts as a page, but backlinks are given from each page: it can be categories or tags and so
