Hey just wondering why keyword rankings are different for different versions of google. Ex my site comes up higher on google.ca than on google.com. Don't they use the same crawler? It's not like google.ca was set to only show sites from Canada Either so I'm not sure why the results are different ... wont they both have the same sites indexed?
i am targeting google.com.tr my web site is at page 3 for a very hard keyword at google.com.tr it is on first page/#2 at google.com but do not get traffic from google. i could not solve this.
my site is in "country google" on second position, but at google.com is on 25 page ...it depends on language , of course that for example turkish google prefer turkish websites
I believe google sites for specific countries put more weight on backlinks from websites of the same country. So a backlink from .ca website will have a larger effect on rankings on google.ca than google.com Also if you have a .ca website it would help with rankings on google.ca too. Of course there could be plenty of other factors too.
i do hear that google will have different serp results for differnt countries in order to provide the best search result considering the geo , language
So setting my geo target to U.S would make rankings better for .com? That's what you would want if you are just looking for traffic volume right? seems like .com would get more traffic than the others...
A couple things - Google has its "global results" and it has its "country/regional specific results". If you have a site that is not optimized for a specific country, then you can expect that site not to rank as well in that country's localized version of Google (but it should rank well if the content is relevant to what someone is looking for). If it is optimized (has links from sites hosted on servers in the same country, has the country-specific TLD, and so forth), then it should be expected to rank better than a site without. As for the "global" search results, think of them as a gigantic pool or melting pot. Everything is tossed in there, while the country-specific versions are like a series of walled gardens - each with their own unique flavor. And yes, they will have the same site indexed - it's just whether the content on that site has been optimized for a country-specific audience (such as theater tickets in London, England) or a world-wide one (pictures of Megan Fox for example).
So its means we dont have to optimize separately for both regional and international ranking. It depends on Google how he prefer a website for a regional ranking? I read some where that the techniques and optimization is different for regional and international? Describe it clearly guys. I want to know this.
To target a particular country, set your country preference in web master tools on your target territory. In that way, it would be easy for you to rank on those places.
If you want to rank well on a certain country, you could optimize it and submit it through all directories or classifieds on that country. You could also join social networks on that country to drive traffic...
i think that's the purpose of google data centers, rankings sometimes differ on all data centers, i.e. - maybe you rank number one on data center one, you rank number five on data center two and you ranks number twenty on data center three.
It's going to depend on the nature of the Web site. For example, if you're selling theater tickets for events all over the world, then you'll want to have the home page target the international market, and then the interior pages target the specific markets where the venues are located. On the other hand, if you're only selling those theater tickets in a specific market (like Akron, Ohio, or Beijing, China), then you'll need to optimize your site's pages for those areas.
