14 Days to Go

Got some really amazing news from my side. I have a pretty good paying day job. However, internet has always fascinated me., and I have always wanted to work on websites and things like that. For more than four years, I have tried building websites, but the security of a day job meant that I did not feel motivated to continuously work on one website. Everytime I had a new idea, I would let go of the old one and move to a new one.

Thanks to that, I still make only like $2 or $3 a day from my websites. I have finally taken a decision to quit my day job and go all out on one website. I am building a new website which I hope will get completed in a week or so. In 14 days, I will be out from my day job and can focus completely on my new website.

How will I make ends meet? I have no clue..Hopefully through freelancing. But I am focused this time that I will try all out for one year and see how it goes. Otherwise, I will move back to a day job. I am sure by throwing myself into desperation-mode without a day job, I can motivate myself to focus completely on my new website and hopefully make it grow.

I am so excited. Aug 10 and its a new start to my life..Pray for me... :)

sometimes its worth taking a risk.....depends on your situation, it might be worth it.....but I would have tried to increase my daily earnings before leaving my day job. Either way, best of luck!!!

Thanks JimKarterSEO and Freecashtube. Well, I am not exactly new to Internet. That has been my oxygen for four years now., but this is the first time I am actually risking 'joblessness' with no pay to do something I have always wanted to do..

IMO you should have kept your job and worked at night online until you got something steady online.

    Anyway, good luck.

Why you want to get out of your day job?
You can work on your website during off job time such as during lunch time.
And i do suggest you to only focus all your attention to only 1 website to achieve a better result.

Thanks Meanvale, Flez, Dee2007 and mentos. I hope it goes well. I have tried focusing on the site part-time, but have not been able to keep myself motivated. Suppose, I were to add 4 pages of content today, after job, I would feel kinda tired and think, its okay, let me only add 1 page or even worse, would think let me do it tomorrow..

That procrastination happened because I had a lush job at hand.

Anyway, I dont think I would be penniless for the next year. My plan is to split my day into bits - 2 hours of freelancing that I guess would make enough to cover monthly expenses and probably also help me save some(I am moving back to my parents' home so would incur less costs!). The rest of the time shall be divided into different tasks like adding content, building links, etc.

Besides, I am still young. And think this is the time to take these risks. Anyway, the economic downturn means that things are not very rosy at the work environment. So, this is the time to take this risk. Even if I don't do great this year, when I get back to a day job next year, things would be better...so I can fit in with ease..

Thanks for your advices though..It really means a lot.. :)

That would be my option, too. $2 a day from the website may be promising but isn't quite encouraging for someone to quit a day job. However, if you got a savings account to use for the time being, then you might have a good point fully focusing on your online business. No time to rest though.

    Good luck.

Well if i finish college and still live with my parents i will try this also for a year. You lose nothing! Jobs will still be there for you and if you build some knowelage about internet you can find job in a computer firm.

    Best of luck

PS: why dont you work on existing pages also? Because you probably wont make money from a new page for a month or two and that can be frustrating.

Thanks for the wishes and the concern guys. I hope to be "safe" in the journey :)

It indeed is risky. But I think it is more of a barrier in the mind than anything else. If I were to work, I would probably end up saving a couple of thousand dollars at the end of the year. But suppose I do well in the year..I can make the same thousands of dollars every month. I'm from India, and here, you can live like a king if you are going to earn $2000 or more per month, and I think that's an advantage I should leverage since making that much is not too difficult to achieve too..

    Good Luck :)

If you have a plan then it's worth the risk.. I wish you success, but don't forget to get back here and tell us what happens ;) ... $2000/month can sure be achieved with work .

Good luck, there are tons of ways to make it in IM, you only need persistance and you will find your way.
