From my limited knowledge:

A good website to promote.
Uploading videos linking back to your site.
Submitting artices to social networking sites.

According to me.

1. Good, Keyword Rich and Quality Content.

2. Fast, Light and Seo Friendly Design and structure of website.

3. Drive More and more traffic by More Links from Quality website and with legitimate SEO tips from Search Engines (Organic Traffic).

 

According to me:

1. Putting 15-20% keyword optimized article
2. SERP and SEO
3. buying link from sites having strong backlink

 

The first step should be keyword research.
After you set up the site while taking in consideration SEO then you should find dofollow blogs that are relevant to your topic and make some comments.

Then articles. I usually do an article per page on my site.

i agree with you on this, you say you have limited knowledge, but trust me you are moving in the right direction!
you should have links coming to your site from popular do follow sites, it is the best way to get links.
Uploading video is absolutely essential as google crawler just loves them.
and yest submitting articles to popular article sites is a must, you submit your article and it automatically gets submitted to thousands of directories

-Domain name that describes the product/service
-Title with keywords
-Good Meta
-Great content

But its important to do some on page work on your site, keyword research, contents and all.

I would say it comes down to on page optimization and linkbuilding. Promoman above mentioned the major methods of linkbuilding.

 

According to me--proper keyword density and variation plus unqiue content
then --link building
the last step--check everything on your site and keep updating
