I don't recommend you use your own name or regular email account for this, but it must work, because the FBI has asked me to cease and desist my replies to scam emails. You know the ones I'm talking about, the poor fellow in Nigeria who can get his millions of dollars out of the country and needs your help. You know, something like: And of course, there's always an enticing 'thank you' of a percentage involved: Of course, they will need to contact you so they can advise you how to proceed, fax you paperwork to fill out, complete with your banking information. Rather than my normal reaction to report as spam and then delete, for the last few weeks, I've been replying to them, along the lines of: »Don't call or fax to these numbers - they're to an FBI office in Washington D.C.« Anyway, the local FBI office contacted me at the request of their DC HQ asking that I stop replying to these emails. Apparently they've received five fake checks this week alone and continue to get countless facsimiles. According Special Agent Russ [last name withheld], giving the FBI phone numbers out as my own is not illegal, but also, it's not being met with a warm welcome by his superiors. However, I have to say the poor agent was painfully trying to control his laughter while scorning me and making the request. Again, I don't recommend using your normal email account if you choose to go this route ... you may get a phone call from Big Brother. More information on how to scam the scammers.
People calling the Washington office asking for me and faxes to the attention of W. R. Mineo I guess, and counterfeit checks made out to my name arriving maybe ... time for a new alias
i did something like that before. Some dickhead post my phone number on adult forum said call this number if you want hot sex when i was in high school. .i receieve tons of call so i forward my call to police station's number(you can do that in Hong Kong)
I used to reply to those emails to fool with them but i have to admit... Giving them the Fbi's phone number and fax is brilliant!! You should post it on a website and digg it, that's hilarious
Thanks, the agent who called me complimented the ingenuity of it even though he found the humor a bit sadistic .... It's on WikiHow and from there I did submit to digg but did not purposefully put a link to it (digg) on here so as not to give DP a bad rep with them.
Congrats. Good idea why can I edit your post on wikihow? Seriously! I could edit! check it out I added something. Now its gone - strange -. Before when I edited, closed the browser opened again the changes where still on. Now it dissapears, you can edit though.
I took a copy of my fist Nigerian scam to the FBI office in my home town and they could not be bothered. It worries me that poor gullible users get scammed by such.
Unfortunately, that is the response you'd get 99.99% of the time I'm afraid. Don't bother wasting your ink .... but a few keystrokes on the keyboard might make them take notice.
I just took up 419baiting about... One and a half hours ago. I've sent out three e-mails to mugus. Hope they'll reply nicely. I'll be taking requests for messages for my scammer to hold on a piece of cardboard.
I've actually chatted with one of the people on yahoo IM. I found them in a Texas chat room even though they claimed to be from Africa (etc). They had a profile pic and everything. After I told them there must be a better way to make money they kinda stopped talking to me.
Even i have chatted to a few scammers, just when they are about to give out their bank details or WU details to deposit the funds i log out, I do that every time, its sooooo.... much fun.
tsk tsk wrmineo, If you've visited 419eater.com it's the first rule: Create another e-mail account when baiting these guys and use gmail (it blocks your IP from being sent in the headers so the bad guys don't really know who they are). Skinny
ROFL that is so damn funny, you get a greenie for it **edit** oops I can't gotta spread it some first. Sorry. You deserve it though, hehe.
