Absolutely, Rachel. My recent blog post on this subject cites a recent study conducted by a UCLA student and a Google employee which shows hard numbers proving that sitemaps help speed up how fast Google learns of your URLs almost 80% of the time. http://www.automapit.com/news/new-study-proves-sitemaps-are-better-than-no-sitemaps-38.html
i submitted 2 sitemaps of my blogger blog qwertyweb.blogspot.com of comments and other of rss feed ,i m gettin more traffic
right now google webmaster tools have sitemap via rss so even if you didnt generate sitemap.xml, letting google to access you rss would be enuff. This is a brilliant way to generate sitemap too since rss contain link to specific information yes you dont have to worry about running cron for it to be indexed. I was wondering id there is a tools that can generate sitemap via rss.
AutoMapIt.com creates sitemaps in RSS plus XML, HTML, text, ROR, and OPML which can be imported into WordPress as a blogroll. The RSS sitemap uses RSS 2.0 and includes your page title and meta description as part of the RSS feed/sitemap. Since it's an online tool, it will crawl your entire site no matter which CMS or blog/forum system you are using, whether you have PHP or ASP.
For google, I think it is right. But, for bing, not. But well-done sitemap might make your site get indexed more fully.
This one is the best i found till now, so just try it. http://download.cnet.com/A1-Sitemap-Generator/3000-10248_4-10496253.html
hi all, I dont know much about sitemaps and have a question. I read a lot of different stories about sitemaps and sitemap generating software etc.. i want to make sure I understand the right thing. I went to an online sitemap generator and generated a sitemap for my small site. I added the xml file to my site and liked to it from one page. Is that it? Or are there other things I should do? should I submit it? where? why? Thanks in advance for the help!
wordpress have a certain plugin , callled sitemap generator where u can easily generate and then submit map to google in webmaster zone after loggin ,though blogger doesnt have such kinda ,u can easily create , just add /posts/comments and feed , ATOM or RSS ,both !
