Guys, This is my Pc conf, P4 LGA 2.66 + Asus P5GS-MX-1333 I upgraded the CPU, I put Dual Core E5200 2.5Ghz and I cant update my Bios, so I wish like to change my Motherboard also. My Current Cipset is Intel 945, and am going to buy this motherboard, Foxconn G31MXP-K with INTELG31 chip sets. So My question is, after change my motherboard, am I need to re install my OS and applications ? or can I simply install the drivers and use my pc without OS re installation ? My OS Windows 7 RC and Ubuntu 9.04 ( dual boot ) or any other suggestions. Thanks in advance guys.
U need to first uninstall all your old drivers and then set the new motherboard up. That way, you only need to install drivers and need not install OS and apps.
no need to uninstall OS dude just remove drivers alone and update the drivers that supports your new mother board.
If it were me, I'd do it from the ground up. You'd probably be happier in the long run. Something might creep up later that you'd wished you done it anyway. Reinstall xp to be on safer side
i will advice you to start from scratch... backup your important files from C drive.. and do a fresh new installation.
You don't need to re-install OS, but i would recommend it anyhow as computer will never run the same without it.
