The "Adam" of Gen. 1:26-28, IS NOT The "Adam" of Gen. 2:7???

    Yes it does; but I assure you, with some additional information, let see if we can clear it up:

    What I'm about to share with you, most folks don't know; which is why a lot of stuff in the first six Chapters of Genesis doesn't make sense to some (and at times, most). Every time someone has tried to discuss it reasonably, logically, and intelligently, "old school traditional" believers have called it "heresy", etc., because just like atheists/agnostics, they're down on what they're not up on.
    Just remember as you proceed, that everything that happens in the Physical realm, has already occurred in the Spiritual realm; this is one of the reasons that JESUS taught a lot "in Parables"

    In Genesis 1:26-28, GOD Creates mankind ("'âdâm", in the Hebrew text); in Genesis 2:7, HE Creates the man we're most familiar with, Adam ("'âdâm", in the Hebrew text).

    But, before explaining this any further, I need to explain Genesis 1:1-2a ("In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was without form and empty. And darkness was on the face of the deep.").
    In Genesis 1:1, GOD Creates everything; HE even Creates some beings called, "Cherubim", "Seraphims", and "Angels". One of HIS Chief angelic being is named, by GOD HIMSELF, "Lucifer". Lucifer ("the anointed cherub that covers") is placed in charge of leading all the other angelic host into Praise and Worship of GOD; his headquarters is Planet Earth. . .in a place called "Eden the Garden of GOD". He, and the other angelic beings, have been given "freewill", by GOD, to do. . .or not to do. As long as Lucifer realizes that there is ONLY ONE GOD, and that he, Lucifer, is not HIM (and conducts himself accordingly), everything is honky dory. . .but...
    We're told about, and of, Lucifer in Ezekiel 28:12-19, "Son of man, lift up a lament over the king of Tyre, and say to him, So says the Lord Jehovah: You seal the measure, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You have been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, the ruby, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the turquoise, and the emerald, and gold. The workmanship of your tambourines and of your flutes was prepared in you in the day that you were created. You were the anointed cherub that covers, and I had put you in the holy height of God where you were; you have walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. You were perfect in your ways from the day that you were created, until iniquity was found in you. By the multitude of your goods they have filled your midst with violence, and you have sinned. So I cast you profaned from the height of God, and I destroy you, O covering cherub, from among the stones of fire. Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; you have spoiled your wisdom because of your brightness. I will cast you to the ground; I will put you before kings, that they may behold you. By the host of your iniquities, by the iniquity of your trade, you have profaned your holy places; so I brought a fire from your midst; it shall devour you, and I will give you for ashes on the earth, before the eyes of all who see you. All who know you among the peoples shall be astonished at you; you shall be terrors, and you will not be forever.";
    Lucifer decided that he no longer wanted to be the worshiper, but he would much rather become THE WORSHIPED; Lucifer now wants to be GOD. . .and he sets forth a plan to usurp and overthrow his CREATOR; and we're told about this in Isaiah 14:12-21, "How you are fallen from the heavens, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart, I will go up to the heavens, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north. I will go up above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High. Yet you shall be brought down to hell, to the sides of the Pit. Those who see you shall stare and closely watch you, saying, Is this the man who made the earth to tremble; who shook kingdoms; who made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed its cities; who did not open the house for his prisoners? All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house. But you are cast out of your grave like a hateful branch, and like the clothing of those who are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; like a dead body trampled under foot. You shall not be joined with them in burial, because you ruined your land and killed your people; the seed of evildoers shall never be famous. Prepare slaughter for his sons, because of the iniquity of their fathers, so that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.";
    Lucifer attempts a coup d'etat; and he's very persuasive, if not strong (or smart) enough, because he gets 1/3 of all the angelic beings to go along with his revolt/rebellion.
    GOD, not only, kicks him (striped of his name, "Lucifer, son of the morning", and all of his beauty), along with his followers (likewise), out of Heaven back to Earth, but down into the very bowels of the Earth itself. . .and thus we have [Genesis 1:2a], "and the Earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep." And this period between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2a is what is commonly referred to as "The Gap Theory".
    So what we have from Genesis 1:2b-25, is a restoration/recreation of sorts, of the Perfect Earth; that GOD had Created in Genesis 1:1; and in Genesis 1:26-28, GOD Creates replacements (with a twist) for the exiled angels that followed [formerly "Lucifer"] Satan/the devil.
    In Genesis 2:7, GOD Creates, the replacement for Lucifer; and gives him a headquarters called, [the replacement] "The Garden of Eden".

    BTW, the answer you gave in the "Atheists/Agnostics Beware. . .Hypocrites are Among You!!!" thread, is a great answer, but its not the very first thing that GOD Created. . .and since its only phony atheists/agnostics over there, we may never get the correct answer (for each of the 3 questions) from any of them.:D

    In Genesis 1:31 "G-d saw all that he had made, and it was very good." Was G-d incorrect, it wasn't so good after all? To clarify what you are saying, did G-d destroy the plants, animals, man and woman he had made originally in Genesis 1? Are you saying he destroyed everything he made, and then sent lucifer and his followers down into the very bowels of the Earth itself? Then G-d came back at a later time and recreated everything? I'm not trying to put words in your mouth, I'm just trying to clarify what you believe.

    There is something else I don't understand, from the verse you quoted 28:12-19 "You were perfect in your ways from the day that you were created, until iniquity was found in you." The definition of iniquity is:
    1 : gross injustice : wickedness
    2 : a wicked act or thing : sin

    If lucifer was actually made perfect by G-d, how could he have iniquity found in him? If lucifer was just hanging out in heaven, where did this bad influence come from? Do you think it's possible that satan is not really working against G-d, but working for G-d?

    When GOD viewed that which is recorded in Genesis 1:31, it is because HE has completely straightened out the mess made when Lucifer (along with his followers) was booted out of Heaven, back to Earth, and down into it. This happened between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2a; Do you remember that JESUS CHRIST stated, "I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. (Luke 10:18)"? This is what (the time period) HE was referring to; and what happens when "lightning" strikes an object? It becomes, "without form, and void. . .(and after it has thoroughly burned it becomes extremely charred, which would account for the total). . .darkness [even] upon the face of the deep.".
    Not exactly. What I'm stating is that GOD'S action destroyed everything that HE had Created on Earth, in ONLY verse 1. Remember, there was no plants, animals, man and woman before and prior to verse 11; but there was a "Lucifer" and the angelic host before that time.
    Look back at the initial post in this thread; remember I stated that Lucifer's headquarters, his domain, was Planet Earth. And yes, when his attempted coup d'etat failed in Heaven, he (along with his followers) was hurled back to Earth, and down into the very bowels of it. . .which may just answer the age old question of exactly where Hell is.;)

    I understand Rebecca ["Becky"]; GOD begins HIS restoration/recreation of Earth in Genesis 1:2b, where we're told, "And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.". The "waters" here are those that GOD made/created to help to douse the chaos caused by, ". . .Satan as lightning fall from heaven.".

    The short answer to that question(s) is "freewill"; which GOD had Created Lucifer and the angels who chose to follow him, had been given. Regardless of what some unbelievers and non-believers believe and/or think, GOD is NOT into canned and/or forced worship. By giving us "freewill", HE gives us the ability to willingly Obey, Fellowship with, Praise, Worship, and eventually REIGN with HIM. . .or not (and on our individual own, in a place "prepared" just for that purpose. . .with HIM and/or any of HIS Stuff).
    And yes, to a large degree, Satan is working for GOD (albeit unwillingly so). . .because GOD is playing him like a well orchestrated Symphony; when GOD'S MASTER PLAN comes to ITS ultimate completion, everything and all things, that could have been tried to usurp and overthrow HIM and HIS SOVEREIGNTY, will have been tried. . .and totally and utterly failed. And no one will ever never again try such a thing as Lucifer, and rebellious mankind has tried, against HIM, over all this time.

    I'll be honest, I'm totally not understanding this. G-d threw lucifer to earth between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2a, then went on and made plants, then animals, then man and woman in that order? Isn't Genesis 2 recording of making man, then plants, then animals, and then woman in that order still a conflict? You've taken the time to write long posts explaining this, and I'm sorry, I'm still just not really understanding. You had said as well that G-d only made man once, but could you explain this statement?:

    I see your point, as well as understand your confusion. But here's a little clearing up for you.

    In Genesis, Chapter 1, GOD is dealing with the entire "Earth" (Genesis1:1,2,10,11,12,15,17,20,22,24,26,28,29,30);

    while in Genesis, Chapter 2, HE is dealing with a specific area of the Earth, referred to as "the field (Genesis 2:5,19,20)".

    For me, an example of this would be, first making the entire state of Mississippi, and then making a specific area in Mississippi called, Jackson (where I grew up). . .and then get very specific, by building a garden in a specific part of my space in Jackson.

    As for your statement, "You had said as well that G-d only made man once, but could you explain this statement?", I don't remember stating what you claim here; I do remember showing you that the word "man" and "Adam", are both the same in the original Hebrew text. Is this what you're referring to?

    The handy thing about nutsackamen's posts is you don't have to read them to see they are absolute bollocks.

    I'll just assume this one is a contrived rationalisation to explain a glaring error in his little book.

    I read Genesis I and Genesis 2 again, and I agree with your statement above. However, I still believe Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 are inconsistent. Look here at a portion of Genesis 2, what this is saying is that man was created before plants:

    "4 This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created. When the LORD God made the earth and the heavens- 5 and no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth and no plant of the field had yet sprung up, for the LORD God had not sent rain on the earth [c] and there was no man to work the ground, 6 but streams [d] came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground- 7 the LORD God formed the man [e] from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being."

    If you look at Genesis 1, plants were created in Genesis 1:11, and man was created after plants in Genesis 1:24

    For clarity, I posted Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 below. What did G-d create first, plants or man?:)

    Again, I fully understand your confusion; this is a confusion that is prevalent among both believers of THE WORD of GOD ("The Bible") and non-believers alike. And that confusion is compounded by the ages old belief that Genesis 2 is a retelling of Genesis 1. . .which it is not.
    Again, Genesis 1, is the Creation of the entire "Earth"; but beginning at Genesis 2:5, GOD begins to deal with a specific part of the Earth, called "the field". All the plants of the Earth, have been Created, as well as mankind ["'âdâm"] (minus the "Adam" that we're all familiar with).

    Actually that is not what is being said at all, but it seems to be because of the secular version of Scripture that its taken from.
    You're quoting from one of the worst MIS-translations of THE WORD of GOD ("The Bible"), in existence today, The New International Version (NIV); and this version has caused more confusion among both believers and unbelievers than anyone can imagine.

    Here are those same verses from the 21st Century King James Version, "4These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens, 5and before every plant of the field was in the earth, and before every herb of the field grew; for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. 6But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
    7And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."

    The word "plant", here in verse 5, is somewhat of a key to help understand this passage. In the original Hebrew text, it carries a meaning of a reproduced plant that is, or can be, transplanted for the purpose of domestication and/or domestic use. Do you remember in Chapter 1 where GOD tells mankind, "Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. (vs. 29)"? In other words, when GOD Created plants, etc. HE did so, and caused them to contain, within themselves, all that which is necessary for them to reproduce (also see Gen. 1:11). Now, HE about to plant "a garden", using what HE has already Created. . .but HE's going to do it the way we now do it (kind of a teaching and training process, as many things in Genesis 1-6 are), by transplanting/replanting what already is, to where HE/we want it to be. Think of uprooting part of an outdoor plant, and replanting it in a pot inside your home.

    So then, the Heaven and the Earth, day and night, sun, moon, stars, plants, animals, Mankind, the Sabbath ("the seventh day of the week"), etc. has already been Created and/or implemented; and verse 4 of Chapter 2 is a very general reminder of all that which has taken place in Chapter 1;
    verse 5, begins to transition us from what has happened regarding the entire Earth, and does so by showing that all this has been done before, "every plant of the field" has been planted "in the earth", as well as "before every herb of the field grew"; verse 6 tells us that all these "plants" are growing, being "fruitful" and multiplying/reproducing, without any "rain" whatsoever, because, as an aside, up to the time of the great flood of Noah's day, it had never rained on Earth.
    So the author tells us that all the Created plants are already in place, growing, and prospering, without the assistance of "rain", and without the assistance of any "man to till the ground";

    The "man" in verse 24, is "mankind";
    in Genesis 2:7, this "man" is the "Adam" that we're all familiar with. . .and note the following, ". . .the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
    None of what I have underlined here, happened in Genesis 1:24-26; do you see the difference?

    In Genesis 1, it's not solely about the creation of the earth. It also mentions creating man, woman, animals and plants. Therefore, if you want to say that Genesis 2 is not a retelling of Genesis 1, then that would suggest that man, woman, plants, and animals were created 2X. If I understand you correctly, you're saying mankind was created in Genesis 1 but man (Adam) in Genesis 2? I don't get that. Why would mankind exist before man? If I still don't get it, it's ok. We could just talk about Obama and the deficit instead.:)

    You're getting it. . .and that's a good thing.

    The Adam's (mankind) of Genesis 1, were to have been the replacements of the angelic beings that chose to follow "Lucifer" in his attempted coup d'etat against GOD;

    Whereas, the Adam of Genesis 2, was to be the replacement for Lucifer, himself; and was to eat of "The Tree of Life". . .and provide access to that "Tree" to all the other Adam's (from Genesis 1); but the provider to "The Tree of Life", must have first been a full recipient of that "Tree" before he could provide access to it, to others. Adam, of Genesis 2, was to have been a Provider/Priest, of sorts, to the entire mankind.

    The Adam of Genesis 2, failed/sinned/disobeyed the command of GOD; this Created, in the physical realm, the need for JESUS CHRIST (THE PRIEST/PROVIDER), THE SON of GOD (ONLY GOD and/or PERFECT obedience, could/can Satisfy GOD), THE SON of Man (because all of Mankind was now/is messed up).

    Here's a tidbit: Cain's wife (in Genesis chapter 4) was NOT his sister, but rather a daughter of one of the Adam's from Genesis 1.
