I just checked out Cuil.com for the 1st time. (pronounced cool) It looks pretty "cool". Anyone else check it out? thoughts?

Yes, there were a number of threads here when it was first launched. Of course, many people then said that it was the Google killer. Well, although it is nice, it hasn't made much progress in terms of taking market share. In the past six months, I don't think I have received any more than maybe 3 referrals for any one of my "decent traffic" sites.

Yeah, I think I have received 1 or 2 referrals in the last 6 months. The engine always returned terrible results for me and I figured it would just die a slow death over this year, but somehow it keeps chugging along (have no idea how).

Yea, I kinda like how its displayed, but it doesn't seem as functional as Google or other Search Engines..It sounds like everyone I talk to says about the same thing. Any chance it stays around for a while and actually becomes a big player??

No, probably not because they have not been able to figure out a business model and they lost most of the initial hype and good will when they launched their service and did not work right (and crashed). They appear to be basically just hanging on by a thread.

Google remains unbeatable! CUIL search engine offers good, fast, logical results and also I heard that Cuil may supersede Google but when Yahoo and Bing are still fighting to win the war Cuil remains far off.

Cuil is okay, the search results are a little too close together to the sponsored links though. If they advertised more (and probably lose the black background) they could potentially get close to Bing (if Cuil is a company and not a single proprietorship).

    Cuil drowned.

The only real search engines today are Google and Bing (together with Yahoo! now). They have eaten too much of the market.

They was a lot of hype up to the launch of Cuil but now it just gradually died down.
