Google prefers to have a sitemap for a website, what if i wish to have more than one sitemap created and submitted daily. Need suggestions
Each site map can only have up to 50,000 urls in it. Once you reach 50,000, a second site map must be generated. Google will download and process that second sitemap with no problems. My main forum has an automatic sitemap generator installed. Everyday, 12 sitemaps are generated with 45,000 URLs in each one. Google grabs the sitemaps everyday, and indexes them with no problems. In my google webmaster tools it even shows where each site map was downloaded, how many urls it contained and if there were any errors. Lets say that you have a blog and a forum on one domain name. You can submit a sitemap for each one.
It is better to have at least one sitemap.xml for your site and generate the site map and submit the same to google whenever you refresh the contents in the site. That is enough, I think.
you can create as many times as you want, but why you do it ??? just adding one sitemap is sufficient.
submit just one xml for google & MSN, txt for yahoo. Manipulate links if you delete or increase interlinks, pages and resubmit the same.
You can have as many sitemaps as needed, you will then create a sitemap index file and submit that index file to the search engines, it depends on the sitemap protocol.
There is no benefit to adding more than 1 sitemap.xml Plus that is just extra work that you don't need to do!
You will only need to create another sitemap if you have reached to 50000 URLs in one sitemap otherwise there is no need to create second sitemap. Kailash
It depends. If you have forum like vBulletin, you can use vbSEO sitemap generator. You can also submit your sitemap manually using following link: www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ping?sitemap=http://www.example.com/sitemap.gz Kailash
what if i have generated only one sitemap and it has over 50000 links, so the over links will be ignored by Google?
