Domain Dashes Do They Or Dont Work Well as far as traffic is concerned not branding I mean striaght forward search engine traffic into your website for life ........... heres my question?- Exactly where to put them? whats everyone realy theory.... Hi All im totally thank to all DPer's and very Happy because I searched for a cool domain dash thread and finally fount the answer I was so desperately seeking in a nut shell .... the bottom line here is this according to this thread Back in 2004 - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1721 If I had bought a domain called mauihandymanrepair.com[/url] where would be the best place to put the dashes or will one dash do?? like this ....... whats bes t one dash or two??? mauihandyman-repair.com or maui-handymanrepair.com or maui-handyman-repair.com
When I contributed to the thread in 2004 I was of the opinion that Google couldn't parse or separate the word in a URL like mauihandymanrepair.com. However since then I've seen evidence of Google's ability to parse or read each of the words in a compound URL like this. So I think the value of the dashes has diminished. But if I was going to pick a option it would be your third option which clearly separates the three words in the URL.
Well, this is depend on the length of the word. For this case,i will say maui-handyman-repair.com is the best option coz it can be pronounce compare to other.
compar thanks again ..... I do agree with that aswell .... if google does or does not I still feel the dashes will build more anchor text then just plain old straight domains ... in any case I will buy the plain case as well .... ive seen many dash domain ranking higher then just branded one especially in my line of work many construction companies usem ...
mentos how about maui-handyman.com vs maui-handyman-repair.com what do you think would do better in the serps and traffic wise????/
compar and mentos im thinking the meatier the domain or less meatier like www.maui-handyman.com over mauai-handyman-repair.com in your opinions.... is the three word domain better and more targeted or could the two word domain be better or as good?? lol what top this one mauai-handyman-repair.com or this one maui-handyman.com
Keep it to 2 words, if possible. Just remember that being a Handyman pretty well says that you'll do repairs! I'd go with maui-handyman ... there really isn't anything wrong with that. Cheers, Hilander
agreed on ........ thats a chosen answer .... I will way out these options .. an appreciate the seo expert advice lol .......... im hoping to grab more traffic if the three worded one can lol
In my experience hyphenated words work better than having a longer name. If you do some searching there are some pretty amazing things people have done and are doing. Example do a search: "How to cook a thankgiving turkey" Figured this out after my wife said she couldn't cook a turkey...lol
not sure I got your message here??? is it pertaining to the dashes or other?? whats your initial statement about??/ lol
Yes I guess it wasn't clear..lol. What I meant was that domains with a hypen do work and logically they should. For example...if someone wanted to know how to cook a turkey they would type in the search...how to cook a thanksgiving turkey...well someone owns or used to..lol, how-to-cook-a-thanksgiving-turkey.com. I swear I'm not crazy! LOL. I know cuz my wife used it last year..lol The down side is people forgetting the hyphen. What's really mind boggling is, what's it going to be like in 10 years?
I got your impression clearly thanks ....... that is party of the reasons why I know dashes are good ... unless you own ebaystore.com or walmart.com when a client searches for products via web surf...... in my profession it is of the norm ... key word like Hawaii home handyman in Honolulu or home repair specialist in Oahu........ bottom line is they need a handyman right away ..... the honeydey list is so high in negligence by that time they call me ...... when ever a searcher prioritizes their search query in detal yeah the dashes are applied .. more over the main reason based on actual fact is that dashes in a domain builds anchor text naturally ......... their the given theory is about seo and directed traffic within your service's...... blogs will be added to maintain new pages and yes the blog updates each url or directory added ..... not html pages like many seo wanna bees ...... just a full fledged directory built in the main domain housing .... that perfection and .... high profile directories like these for example I will use a massage site to prove seo perfection from the root domain .... the main uri here kauaimassages.com the directory in a directory note no html pages will be favored rooted from the main domain kauaimassages.com/Kauai-Guide/Kauai-Taxi-Tours-Personal-Tours/index.html here my domain thought for everyone looking to improve your domian presence .... unless you need a handyman-home-improvement-guy.com lol
yeah the length of the word would really matter most... and the dashes must be really on the right place..
