Well, as everyone can see this is my first post. I've lurked here, mainly from google, a number of times usually on Internet Marketing Tangents over the years. I've read countless scam ads, and many people here speaking of how this and that has helped them make money. (Not tons, but enough to get them going) and they mention stuff that they used, and places that they joined, and many other such things that they've said were really useful. Most of them, even linked back to blogs about "inside" information on a lot of their paid membership places to really give people peace of mind that what they're looking to pay into isn't a "run and go" scam. Which is all done and good and all, but I'm left with one other question that never gets quite answered. What exactly is it that I'm doing? There are many many many things online that I am 100% willing to work towards, create, and manage- in fact lots of it is what I'm looking to do as a career (i.e I'm an undergrad graphic design/web developer major though a young one...) but there are some things I'm not, and not capable of. I would love for this to be easy, something that fits around my major, and something that, when the time comes, I can show a potential employer this ring of web pages that I've created and achieved revenue from by doing X. But if I'm not sure what X is then I don't feel comfortable diving in, so to speak. Anyone have any answers/advice/links/ect to help?
If I knew I probably wouldn't be asking, I'm probably looking to be too specific. What is it that you do to make money online using marketing? Is it all these ads that you see on all these sites, is it just traffic, is it actually selling products? What is it that you need to create, what are they about, and what is it that you need to put on it that creates revenue? And anything else that anyone should know about the beginning of this.
I would first recommend trying to figure out what kind of sites you would be interested in running and then look into how to monetize them, otherwise its just too vague of a question like the previous post mentioned. Like what kind of stuff are you into?
A lot of stuff that you see on the internet is scam. What works, is legal, lots of people are doing it, lots of people are making money, is make a website, put a few ads (charge people to put their ads/banners on your site) and you make money. That is the most honest way people make money. All the other BS where people tell you to sell stuff you don't see, email people, review products, etc. are 99.8% illegal or you will be making so little money that it's not even worth it. And, you can ask anyone in this forum, or any other forum, and this will be confirmed. If anyone says something otherwise, please post screenshots of your checks, bank accounts, etc as to how you made money.
What exactly are you asking? I dont really see a definitive question at all. Are you asking how to market your site? If so, it really depends on the niche of your sites. Each niche has a different formula. For example, one site might do really well with article marketing, however if you try to do it with another type of site you might not be able to use article marketing. You need to test the waters first - see what works the best. It should stick out to you after you test it all.
So basically, like the owner of this forum could put ads on here, charge those companies a nominal fee for the advertisement, and generate revenue from it? You can make a site about anything and put ads on it, it doesn't have to be selling something or promoting another affiliate website (like they're memberships earn you money). Thats basically what I was trying to ask. So what advantage do mailing lists give you? What other things besides just creating web pages and putting ads on there can you do to make money? How does PPC work (I've been doing some more reading..)
Exactly, the owner of this forum has put up a few ads throughout the site and we, members, click on them and the owner gets paid for each time we click. Mailing lists give you different advantages. Depends on what you are trying to do. If I have access to 500 email addresses, that I can access legally, i can send them all an email stating I just wrote an ebook and it is available for sale. Of those 500 1% may buy the ebook, thats enough for me. Thats just one example but you can do many more things, you just have to be creative, without being a spammer.
So one could do a coupon site, or flash games and make a fortune? Suddenly I think I picked a good major Where is a good place to start?
You need to learn the basics first. I tell newbies to start off by finding people with a problem, then find them a solution. You need to learn how to do keyword research since everything on the net revolves around keywords. Your major will come in real handy in that once you learn the basics, you might consider building & selling website templates. Having your own product is the way to go if you can. There is a big market for good templates. good luck, Zeek
The Basics is really one of the most important thing to do first.. LEARN the BASICS and then proceed with the complex things.. Anyways, you also need to know your interest...So that you could relate to the business you are running on..
