What do you think is best: 1) Build up a blog which you added content to weekly and have the affiliate banners in the sidebar. 2) Just finding one product, get a domain, shove together a WP blog with just a review and link to the affiliate product and then write articles, lenses, hubs etc on the product and niche and link back to your blog?
1) is best for SEO and redirecting traffic 2) is best as a landing page IMO: Depends a little on the niche. If you don't want to create a "real" dot com landing page I would recommend 2). Also, it is not impossible to combine option 1) and 2). Review a few different products in your niche and create keyword optimized blog posts in between. Give some link juice to your blog from articles and you should see your blog rank pretty fast.
I agree with kasper, a combo of the two works best. Also depends on your personality. Can you commit to writing at least one blog post daily?
The second idea, I am telling you if your primary aim is to just make money go with the second idea. Take this advice from someone who has both, my SEO Blog which has several affiliate products around the site. Alright I don't hard sell any products on my blog but thats not what a blog is about anyway, with a blog you need to build a relationship a rapor with the reader, with a landing page its all about selling the product and the visitor knows that. This is the big difference that people dont understand, a blog is not for selling stuff primarily, a landing page is for converting in to a sale or a subscriber. If your trying to use a blog to sell stuff primarily then it just wont happen and even trying to sell stuff as a secondary function is hard enough, I have had my blog up for several years and its still trying to beat income I have made from an affiliate landing page that I have had up in two months. Your choice...
It's funny, all the success I've had so far is with my blog. I've tried landing pages, sent tons of traffic to them, and was not able to get any sales. I think it has to more to do with skills. What are you good at?
Yeah my main skills are SEO, but Affiliate marketing as well although thats quite broad. To be honest I suppose its how you set up a blog and what the market is, considering mine is about Internet marketing and making money online its hard to sell products to these people, especially when I don't want to promote just general crap like all this sh*t you find on clickbank saying you can get top position in google in just 24 hours and you can make $1,00000000000,0000000000 in just four weeks promoting products it just annoys me, so instead I only promote products I have used or use and ones I actually think are worth while. It depends on many factors, but I have skills in many areas of IM.
