How to know DMOZ listed my site?

    Hi,

Just out of curiosity..how to know that DMOZ have listed our site in their directory?

From Awstat data in cPanel, it shows that i have '1' link from DMOZ but when i try searching for my domain by using search box at DMOZ, no result found.

    Any comment?

    Thanks

The link may simply be one of the "bots" visiting your site and neither means nor implies anything.

Search for your site using the search box, however the www needs to be ommitted.

    Cheers. :)

It could mean someone clicked through from their editor panel to your website... If it's not up yet, that could be a bad sign.

It could mean that an editor did that, but it certainly is not a bad sign, nor can it be considered a good sign. It could be a bot, it could be an editor glanced at it, it could be an editor moved it to a different cat, it could mean a thousand things.

But it certainly is not to be considered either good or bad and ideally, just ignore it and keep doing what you are doing, promoting the site and building the content. :)

    Yes.

    Thank you for feedback.

But normally, how DMOZ will notify us once they listed our site?

    Cheers..

You will not be notified wether your site is published in the directory. It would be a case of you either see it, or you dont. No notification is made as dmoz is not a listing service.

You are suggesting the site, but that is only one of many ways in which sites are included. Editors may review the suggestion, however being a volunteer based community, that may happen today, it may be in a very long time. It simply depends on when and if a volunteer chooses to do so.

Move on and pursue far more valuable pursuits, such as building unique content and improving your site. You have suggested your site, you can do nothing else.

    Cheers.

It might help to read not only the suggestion guidelines, but also earlier posts in this thread and umpteen others. ;)

It's still much more reliable and a whole lot faster to simply look in DMOZ yourself. :)

DMOZ generally lists sites by their domain name so do a search for that. Exclude teh www. & the .com/net/etc.

As indeed are many millions of other sites. Fortunately, hundreds are found and added every single day, so perhaps yours will be among them one day. The ODP does not aim to catalog every site on the internet. That is impossible. But as volunteers we do our best to find and list the best. :)

Go to DMOZ and type your domain name in the search box. If your site is indexed it will show up!
