DP is getting really conjusted!

This is my feedback of the "changes" brought...

Its getting too conjusted. before it was a good old forum for webmasters. Now, its becoming more of a fun place. Every time i look at the place where "Private Messages" used to stand, now there's always 1 or 2 notifications.

And the profile view, it was good simple. Now visitor messages, and stuff make it messy. Even the "Social Groups" are becoming annoying...

These are the stuff which a fun community has. I liked coming here to share knowledge with webmasters... And only a bit of fun was good which was the GC and UG. Now, its too messy :( Even many of the threads in this section are not closing, closing them kept useless posts away...

I think dp has been overloaded with crap.

Shawn, i know u'll come and say, if you dont like that stuff, don't use it. But this was just a feedback. Who's with me?

I disagree with you OP, I think the features are "far out" ;)

This is the new way of the whole entire internet , look at bing for example,

Its all about the "flow" now ....The internet wave ~~~~~

    Features are cool!!!!

I agree, but adding "photo albums" so we can upload our own albums isn't really "fluff"...

Either is a useful "tag" system.......:)

I'm certainly going to tune some of the features (I have a running to-do list already), but I don't think everything is simply going to "go away" completely.

This thread echos exactly when forums upgraded from vBulletin 2.x to 3.0 when people were saying, "omg, AJAX post replies, drop down menus, buddy lists, multiple display modes, too much stuff!!!" :)

The phpbb was never live btw... never had more than 1 user (me). I was actually just testing some stuff. Notice the last post date was Sept 2003, and 5 months later still only 1 user. :)

Getting the Ajax stuff is COOL...

but what i'm talking abt is different.

Putting it in simple language for you, chnage the profile view back to how it was before. which also removes the many types of notifications. Remove social groups. And start closing threads again in the S&F section (not this thread :D)

If anything, probably will just end up with an optional "simple" style. I could give you a *really* simple one right now if you want (been working on it here and there for iPhones). There's *plenty* you can't do in it. :)

And you keps that stuff, just like you should keep all this stuff!!! The n00bies just havn't discovered the new options. For example, 'Enable Visitor Messaging' where they can keep those out.

A simple profile format would definitely help. The current one is going to get really old really fast. Most users probably don't have to view tons of profile pages, but from a mod perspective, it's a pain in the ass having to click three or four times just to see the user info that used to be nicely laid out in a single page (especially given that to load something like the infraction view is currently taking longer than loading a completely fresh page). Just seems like a much bigger hassle in order to squeeze more useless stuff in there. So yeah... pretty pretty please on the simpler profile page option. :)

Just give it some time. The upgrade was just done yesterday. I've noticed the Notifications feature in the upper right hand corner has gone back to the old Private Messages and there is probably still more changes to come. Sometimes you have to adapt to things. Case study: Facebook. People freak out when they release a new design or feature, but everyone goes mum after a week.

See? The sophisticated users like it the way it was. The tabs really do waste a few seconds which add up to minutes for the whole day and you end up loosing a few hours of your life! :p

Honestly, I did like it how it was because every other forum I've been on has all of these features already & only DP really just stood out as the "no BS, all work & no play, we're squares" kind of forum & I liked that weird as it is. :p

BUT I like the changes because DP seriously was starting to get not very user-friendly already because like.. the quick reply for PMs, we didn't have that before but now we do, hooray! It makes us reply faster to our PMs. Saves us a lot of time. So I like these changes.

& Well, basically since digitalpoint has already clearly stated that he's working on something that compromises both ends, I'm not worried. But in the event that nothing is done and all changes stay, just ignore them. :)

We know that new profile is not simple than old one. I also don't like new notification system, because it doesn't only for PM.

    Have a nice day
