Duplicate Content Ban?

My question is........does Yahoo and MSN ban websites with duplicate content? I know Google enforces this issue and simply does not index websites with duplicate content.

Would Yahoo index and provide a ranking for a duplicated article from GoArticles? It's just that KeywordElite provides this functionality and wanted to know whether this would be worth while or not.

    Thanks for your time.

GOOGLE doesnt BAN duplicated content site..
i've sseeen so many sites and there are some sites of MINE whch use DUPLICATED content. but its not banned its on #2 position in google msn and yahoo..
no one is sure or there is no proof that duplicated content is banned.. if that was so then all Press release and article sites have been banned till now..

A number of my articles have been picked up by other 'authority' sites, and in some instances an article has been duplicated on at least 10 sites.

Unless Google et al have a way to make sure they know which site originated the article, there is no way they can ban sites for duplicate content...

I will say the whole duplicate content thing has me confused because I keep hearing how bad it is, but don't see how the serps can deal with it, nor how I can possibly avoid someone duplicating my content?... so there you are then.....

No no there's no issue like that none can ban you for duplicate content, if it would have been true then just consider why people would want to post others article on their site.

This makes sense. Also a competitor could just copy your articles and post the all over the web to get you banned... so i say duplicate content is safe...

It's all up in the air... if they catch you which they seldom do only if you over do it.

The problem with duplicate content is that you will not get the link credits for them. If you only have a few dupes it will be OK, but if you have a hundred duplicates you will still get about the same number of links.

I see the same effect from your signature in forum posts, Google, MSN only
give you credit for about two to three no matter how many posts you have in the same forum.
They say Show more results or repeat the search with the omitted results included.

Does anyone here who has hundreds or thousands of posts see this effect?
What is the maximum number of links you get?

dupe content usually receives a penalty, but not a ban. It would likely land you in the supplemental index (just my experience). It came about to combat scraper sites, thus the use of content generators now ;)

There is now way to specify a duplicate content. No such way to pin point the originator of the content right now in the market.

won't you believe if i say.. they can? im not sure about other search engine, but google does it... why do you think google suggest quality content? why do you think that there are some web pages that can't be indexed in google engine? i view a website last months that can track text content.. if you get your content in some website they display the url of the website when and where your content came from. i just forgot the url of the website.. it's something like.. patent...

If you have more than one site with the exact same content and layout but different domains they might get banned.

Why would you want to duplicate pages within your own site?

well, i tried to duplicate my pages because it looks like the search engines like the content of my index page.... It's just that,i want to change the title because i'm optimizing a different keyword. So i think the search engines will treat that new page like it did to the index page.
